What years were you in high school?
Did your high school have a student smoking section? Was it in the same area as the teacher smoking section or was it separate? |
| Yes, and I'm pretty sure it was separate from the teachers smoking area. Students had to have a signed permission slip to smoke in the designated areas and parents freely signed the slip. I didn't smoke but my mother did so it didn't mean much to me that some kids smoked. |
| I graduated in 91 and the smoking section was eliminated the year before I started. I've never smoked so sour didn't affect me. My school was very rigid and strict so the kids couldn't even go to their car at lunch. |
| No. I graduated in '94. |
| Yes, a separate area from the teachers. Early '80s. |
| An official smoking section? I thought you meant under the tree out by the loading dock. |
| yes in the 80's in the midwest. |
Where was this? I graduated in '88 from a HS in LA. No, we didn't. |
|
Graduated in 1971. Teachers smoking room only. Could smoke and eat in college classrooms!
Make Love, Not war!! |
| Yes. Graduated mid-70’s from FCPS. Smoking section outside, separate from teachers. Near the trailers. |
| I graduated from a MoCo "W" school in 1988. Students had a dedicated smoking section at the back of the school. |

Seriously?!
No, NJ in 1989. |
| 1985. Atholton High School. Columbia MD. Yes there was a smoking section for students. Parents could sign a permission slip letting their kids smoke in junior and senior year. They smoked outside in the back of the school. Separate from teachers, who smoked in the teachers lounge. Indoor smoking was still prevalent back then. |
In one of my yearbooks (I forget which one) one of the upperclassmen had his photo taken for the yearbook with a cigarette sticking out of his mouth.
The cool kids would all smoke behind the convenience store located across the street from my high school. The store manager would let them do it. Sometimes he would go out there and smoke with them. |
+1 except that I was at Oakland Mills (graduated in '86). Up until 1990, I was working in offices where lots of people freely smoked at their desks. |
