It's a lovely neighborhood. A good 10-15 minute walk from the metro but there is a bus that goes right past from metro (H6). We live near it and might just consider ss if it moved to that location. Depending what happens with Lee. Both great schools, imo.

yep - I posted earlier that this is my worst fear (it hits all their criteria). I'd probably leave and go private before sending my kid to that location to breath in truck fumes as well as asbestos and lead dust from the gigantic pile of old buildings.

Reading the thread and seeing a comment about a 'mole ' at SHining Stars. Not a parent there , though we have friends there who love the school. Very disturbing that someone feels the need to 'report out' this school's activities surreptitiously on DCUM. The use of the term 'mole' said much about that person, and those who seem to want to know the inner working of Shining Stars or any other school. What's the purpose? Too bad, too sad.

Ss paranoid person, you are making much of little. I am an SS parent, (but not the "mole," whom I suspect does not exist). This thread has made me aware of possible locations for ss. It has been interesting. That's it. No one is saying anything bad. SS is a great school.

Lee head of school said in August that he hopes to have news before the end of September. Has that date passed yet? It has not. Nothing has changed. Calm down.

The Lee administration told parents in an email (sent right before school started) that they were hoping to make an announcement by the end of September. At back to school night (last week) they said they had no update, but hoped to make an announcement by the end of September as they'd previously stated. So we wait.

Shining stars said during the tours last spring that they'd know the new location and announce in October. That's why I keep checking this thread for updates.

I wish there really was an SS mole, although I read the thread that happened a few years ago and I know that was not a happy time.

yes. The lack of knowledge/leaks has really shaken my faith in dcurban mom, haha. That said, I does sound like, from the other thread, that ss is trying to nail down bethune.
