I've met Katy Perry three times. She's a friend of a friend. Once before she was famous and twice after. She was pretty much a bitch all three times, and the second 2 times she was very full of herself. But she is incredibly generous to her friends. |
Paul Newman - I worked at one of his camps in the 90s - and he'd come, hang out, have lunch in the dining hall, and play around with kids/staff a few times a summer.
Norman Schwarzkopf - He was on the board of camp above. Didn't really interact as much (at all) and was there more for the photo ops. |
I met the band of Matchbox 20 (1998?) in a small bar in Scranton, PA. I had no idea who they were at the time. They were very nice and funny. They put us "on the list" for their show the following night.
Aerosmith backstage at their concert. All nice. There was a special needs kid there that ran over the foot of Joe Perry with his motorized wheelchair. He was gracious, but you can tell it hurt. Al Gore during the '96 campaign. He was extremely kind and very handsome. |
he is seriously my hero in a ton of ways, I've given my beloved, dog-earred copy of his Pursuit of Common Good book out to so many people (reminder, get it back from my mom!). A colleague of my husband's and I were talking at a dinner one night and he told me how he knew Paul Newman when he was a kid (he's in his mid 40s now) and I about shoved him off the bar stool in disbelief and excitement to get the whole story. He knew him through some of the racing stuff he was involved in, as his family was involved with racing too. I've never met anyone but my step-brother is friends with 3 brothers (from the town that neighbors my home town) and they are all pro athletes on teams or in sports my DH and I follow and I always kind of want to angle a meeting but I'm to embarrassed to ask. Step-bro is back together with his ex-GF and I secretly hope they get married just because I know I will meet these guys at the reception. Haha. Lame. |
How did their music take off? Every song is a repetitive howling of a 5 word sentence. I've always said my elementary aged children could write better lyrics. |
Was at a small house party with John Mayer right after Your Body is a Wonderland came out. He's tall and weird. |
Cool! ~from another geek! |
Chelsea Handler! It was a meet and greet but she was very very nice-a lot nicer than I expected. She is very sweet and I got a hug. |
Bono. Very charming. |
Gristedes? Sounds like you lived in the same town as my dad. He worked there, too, when he was in high school. He delivered groceries for Paul and Joanne several times. My dad has met tons of celebrities - too many to list here. As for me, I've met Danny Devito. I was 6 or 7 and he was in Hawaii filming Throw Mama from the Train. He was very nice to me and took a picture with me. It's funny that in the picture we are almost the same height, even though I was only seven at the time. |
Can you give us any more details? I would love to know more. |
Ok not really celebs but the camera crew from Extreme Home Makeover at a taco mac in Atlanta (they were here for filming). I was kind of shit faced so I don't remember much but from what I do remember they were really cool. |
Really? Love to hear more deets about this. Is he as egotistical as his rep? |
Worked at a Country Club in Potomac in High school and college.
