I am a survivor and yet every fucking day I have to hear about my goddamn privilege from people who don't have a damn clue about what it means to go to bed hungry or wear shoes with holes or have no winter coat. So yeah, I am getting pretty fed up with middle and upper class blacks claiming victim hood. Get a fucking grip. Most people have struggles in life. I was never a racists until I started frequenting this board had had to hear about my privilege over and over and over again. People need to get a clue."

I recently lost a LOT of weight. It opened my eyes to the subtle differences in how people treat others based on appearance. As a white person, I already had it pretty good. But as a THIN white person? Wow, people are VERY friendly now, even women.

Perhaps you simply act different now that you are "thin" and are projecting a different image--more confident, more open and outgoing. It may not all be on the other person.

OP takes the cake for most asinine post of the week. She cries foul because she is wealthy and comes from generations of wealth and education so she doesn't get to cry the "white man held me back" so now she has to be a victim of "the white man thinks assumes that I had to overcome obstacles to succeed instead of recognizing that I am privileged from birth " thus, making her a victim no matter what. For Pete's sake, do you know how many people would love to have such a "problem"? Unbelievable.

Well, on that point you would be wrong--3 advanced degrees to prove it. In any event, if a dropping a few f-bombs in a cyber-rant is indicative of lack of education or class than a significant portion of the DCUM world lacks both. The beauty of cyberspace we can say what we are really thinking.

Really? That's kind of like the game I played with my kids when they were babies. They covered their eyes but thought I could not see them. I do not use racism as an excuse for my failures and shortcomings - but I am not so naive to think that certain experiences in my life have not been impacted by race. I don't dwell on it and it does not consume me, but I am remided pretty frequently that I am AA.
