My kids have had so many summatives rescheduled or postponed or pushed down the road because teachers haven't been able to cover the material needed.
Truly. This feels like the responsible decision to make. At the same time, elementary kids already have an early release day Wednesday and they all have a day off for a religious holiday (which is absurd for a public school system) on Friday. It is so egregious but I know I will just be told to suck it up or go private.
I agree. This might be a good decision but we’ve had other days off that didn’t make sense. I’m a teacher and believe these planned days off in the middle of weeks are so disruptive! A Tuesday here, a Thursday there. Does anyone like this? I think the best work days and professional development days are the ones tacked onto the end of a longer vacation, and those seem to work well for families, too. As for some of the religious holidays we have off now, I think not allowing testing on those days and considering them excused absences might be adequate.
