Why bother?

No, they will never release school over this. After school activities will go on as normal too, unless thunderstorms are actually hitting or forming at the time.

How wrong you are! Haha

This did not age well.

Shortest and most ineffective quarter ever. Kids are seriously disadvantaged. I am not arguing against the decision to release early tomorrow as that makes sense but I am 100% against all the other closures we have had and will continue to have.

My kids have had so many summatives rescheduled or postponed or pushed down the road because teachers haven't been able to cover the material needed.

Whoever said this is typical spring and summer weather … a) no it isn’t and b) we aren’t even in spring yet. We had an 80 degree day last week followed by snow and then severe summer storms 4 days later. The calendar is beside the point, our climate is destabilized and weather closures like this and the ice storm WILL be more regular as a result.

They just want more time off

Glad they are taking it seriously.

We really haven't had that many days off. My math classes are one block behind where they were last year.

Truly. This feels like the responsible decision to make. At the same time, elementary kids already have an early release day Wednesday and they all have a day off for a religious holiday (which is absurd for a public school system) on Friday. It is so egregious but I know I will just be told to suck it up or go private.

We really haven't had that many unplanned days off. My math classes are one block behind where they were last year.

I fully agree we've had a boat load of holidays and planned days off, but we will be finishing 3rd quarter at exactly the same spot I was at last year, minus the "catch up day" i gave kids at the end of last quarter since I didn't want to start a new unit.

I wish they would prorate our taxes + SACC tuition but of course they won’t. Maybe they’d be more discerning with some skin in the game.

Some. Of. Us. Have. To. Work.

Nothing in the world funnier than unearned confidence!

Different poster, but before the “ScHoOlS aRe NoT ChIlDcArE” comes to bite your head off, a lot of us also really want consistent learning for our kids and you will not convince me they are getting it at FCPS.
