HS Swim - Districts this weekend?

That is so wrong. On multiple fronts.

It is bad enough some districts have bad pools but to give them less chances to drop time in a competitive environment is unfair. The decision makers were not thinking about the kids. Poor leadership.

I’d love to know the reasoning behind National going one way and the others going the other.

It’s hard to imagine people made these decisions in isolation.

Who’s the head of districts for National?

Some coaches in the district advocated for timed finals but ultimately it is the district leader’s choice. Maybe the DSA’s had input. It will definitely hurt some kids.

Who made that stupid call??? Seriously?

Who can we at least complain to. It is not the coaches because our coach is NOT happy about it.

Who is the District Leader? And what coaches wanted timed finals?

I mean seriously…there has been no HS practices all week. Heck the rec centers were closed for two days this week.

Then to go straight into a timed finals event tomorrow morning without a chance to even get back into the water. Stupid.

We just got confirmed time finals for Nationals. Seriously WTF.

They made that call yesterday, didn't they?

Seems that National District never even considered finals on sat. That’s the feeling I got from our coach’s emails. It was always a question of what time timed finals would occur on Friday.

Contact the DSAs at the National district schools. Their input outweighs coaches. I get the decision to move to timed finals initially but not sure why it wasn’t moved back and I think these decisions should be made as a region not each district doing whatever they want

They have been all over the place with the back and forth. I would like to know who the decision makers were and to speak to them. It shows a real lack of leadership to make a call early and not be able to pivot for the benefit of the swimmer.

I think that the better schools have better advocacy and commitment to their athletes.

Contact names? Telephone? Emails?

I seriously would like to reach out to all of them.

when for some reason Fcps changes their minds and closes early tomorrow or sat, national will look smart. Top 8 still go to regionals.

Here is the contact information. Messaging them might impact if done en mass this evening. But doubtful.

Just so I'm writing to the right person..DSA is Director for Student Activities? I'm drafting an email now to the DSA for my HS.

If they close early tomorrow. All districts are screwed except Concorde.

If they close Saturday then everyone would still send top 8. It would only hurt relays because seed time would be the final time.

But by not even giving Saturday as an option screws two districts.
