Black enrollment falls below 8% for every top 20 ranked liberal arts college in the country

^williams has the envious position of being the top dog among SLACs. Tougher for the rest of the pack to compete.

They wrote it down and said it out loud.

Listen when they spew you morons.

Fearmongering nonsense.

In the 90s/00s Williams accepted several very questionable minority students from my racially diverse, upper middle class suburban high school while at the same time wait listing/rejecting white kids the same year who were by every single measure materially more qualified. Our black guidance counselors were the first to acknowledge it. I'm sure they could do the work but it really spoke to how hard they were trying to socially engineer things.

Facts don’t care about your anecdotes. They have a consistent black population before and after affirmative action was done. You’re speaking on mythical matters 3 and a half decades ago.

Thanks to the OP that chart tells a lot. Also look at the disparity in Asian enrollment among top 20 LACs.

+1 Anyway OP cherrypicked stats for the year following the SC decision, where there were massive dips. Elite colleges shifted to targeted FGLI recruitment, and it looks like numbers bounced back pretty well for the Class of 2025.

The OP posted reliable information. If it's not sufficiently comprehensive for you, then the forum is open for you to contribute your own research.

Impossible to cherry pick when n=1.

I'm glad someone pointed this out.

There is one year of data.
OP compiled one year of data.
PP: "OP only looked at one year! It's an outrage!"

Conclusion: PP is an idiot.

Defensive, aren't we? Did you get in in the 90s with a 1200ish SAT and good but not great grades?

Don't get me wrong - there were plenty of awesome, highly qualified minority students at Williams. But the numbers were filled out by obsessive affirmative action.

The LAC’s with the most Asians tend to be urban LAC’s in areas with a high Asian population. Makes sense.

Pendulum went too far left on the 90s-2020s years.

Not large Asian populations in Williamstown, Amherst Ma or Grinnell Iowa.

There is a critical mass. Great little Chinese restaurant near the Williams campus. And Amherst has plenty - it is a huge college town with UMass. Maybe right about Grinnell but still irrelevant.

And someone has to be the first. There were no Jews at many of these schools years ago. Some Jews decided to be trailblazers. Now they are plentiful. I recognize that Jews can blend in better due to appearances, but the concept is still the same.

Excuses, excuses, excuses...

You have no proof of this and seem to be very sensitive.

Neither of these places have an Asian population outside of faculty. Especially when we’re comparing to a place like California.
