If you actually thought that was a problem, you'd give them a flashlight. But most of us don't live in a place with so little light pollution that you can't see where you're stepping.

No child of mine is going to learn to be careful in the winter!!! I want them cowering inside in fear of frozen water, according to our longstanding family values.

No one has articulated a coherent reason to delay. It's well below freezing now. It's going to stay well below freezing through the delayed opening. There's no refreezing problem, and a delay won't allow the snow to melt before opening.

The email included several reasons. It's a done deal. Move on.

Black ice is a serious issue. I broke my wrist falling on it when I was a kid. A flashlight doesn’t necessarily help…

Glad all is good where you are, but we got nearly 5 inches in Damascus. And while the main streets are pretty good, there are neighborhood streets that are a mess. There were already plenty of icy spots this afternoon, we'll before the sun went down. This area was a hot mess with buses sliding around on the day of no delay. We don't need a repeat of that tomorrow.

How would a flashlight not help but a 2-hour delay would?

The main thing, though, is just to reach your kids to be less clumsy. There's no shortage of ways for inattentive and clumsy kids to get minor injuries.

Or just have them put on boots and walk on the grass.

Do people in this area really have so little common sense?

I live off Sweepstakes. You're exaggerating the quantity of snow and the conditions of the roads. I didn't see any unplowed roads this afternoon when I was out. And the ones that were unplowed in the morning were fine to drive on slowly.

Should change to closed for Monday. Remember, the people who drive the buses and get your kids to and from may not show up for whatever reason. They may not find sub drivers. There are thousands of stops the buses have to be able to reach. It's not just about you and your 2025 SUV, ok?!

The entire day today is more than enough time to deal with 5 inches (or more) of snow in an isolated area. Seriously. We need to cope.
