Honest q for conservatives: do you hold your kids to a higher standard than trump?

They might not but I’ve taught my kids not to hurt people. I have consistently told my kids are kind and one in high school shuts down bullies when they start ridiculing someone.

Anyone who thinks a modern day GOP or Dem politician can be an appropriate role model for their children is a complete and utter idiot. They have too much obligation to please their wealthy donors to have time for being a role model to children.

Have you ever been in a public high school? I can assure you that "piggy" would be viewed as a very mild word choice.

Just because they do it doesn't mean it is encouraged. Any responsible adult who hears kids talking to each other this way would at least tell them to knock it off, and depending on the circumstances, they'd be punished. Context matters. Crass jokes between friends is one thing and warrants one response, while bullying is different and would warrant a different response. The President of the United States should not be modeling either behavior. Anyone arguing otherwise is being disingenuous and should be ignored.

I agree with you; but my point is that not just Republicans have disrespectful kids who use bad, derogatory language. It's a socital problem that includes all groups.

Only one party has a president using this language with regularity. That’s the point.

There were also some recent Democratic presidents whose behaviors were reprehensible (Clinton, Kennedy, Johnson), but you'll never hear anyone on DCUM complain because they agree with their accomplishments.

I’m not the op but start another thread asking liberals the same question if it matters so much to you. This question was about what’s happening with this president, who just spewed the R word in writing for the entire world to see. It’s eminently fair to ask if you would expect better of your children.

I really don't GAS what the complaints are against Trump's attitudes anymore.

Democrats arrested him, raided his house with a swat team, tried to get him removed from the ballot in several states, and instituted all manner of lawfare against him and his family.

They went after his lawyers and everyone has a right to representation.

Bottom line: Democrats salted the ground with poison. It was so satisfying to you when they did that. So stop complaining. You deserve exactly what you are getting. It's too late to turn back now.

Sigh. Can’t we do better? Sure I loved the world in my 20s when Clinton was President bit he abused his power to have sec with women and his crackdown on marijuana rather than go after the actual drug kingpins was cruel.
