DP. I’m not the first pp, but I agree the framing is problematic, so I added what I think would be a good fix. |
These are good points. Where/how/when does Trump get blocked from running again? Will Secretaries of State refuse to put him on the ballot? Will the courts force every state to take him off? During the primaries? After the convention? |
The "ways,' are ludicrous. Vance is elected president and Trump is his VP. immediately after being sworn in as president Vance immediately resigns and trump is president. Or, even more ludicrous is trump is elected Speaker of the House and GOP elected president and VP immediately resign and trump is president. |
Sounds like a plan, except Vance won’t win. |
It’s not a plan because the 12th Amendment does not allow someone to be elected VP who isn’t eligible to be P. |
I think that we can worry about several different things at once. Indeed, we should. |
| How can 47% of Americans support this nut case? |
it's only "not allowed" if there's someone to say no and stop it - and who do you think will do that? remember what happened when colorado tried to keep trump off the ballot and the sup ct said it wasn't their place to determine eligibility? |
The 12th Amendment does not allow this. |
Actually it’s more like 28% who voted for him. About a third of eligible voters didn’t even vote. But still how can 28% like him enough to vote for him? The only explanation is that most of those voters really hate free speech, healthcare, and groceries. I disagree with them on those issues. |
This guy was voted in primarily because nobody in power would shut the darn border. I'm sorry to say it, but people were aware of his flaws, and still had no choice. That's the reality. Listen to the people, prevent tyranny. |
The only crazy person that needs to be referenced here is Trump. The media gives credence to Trump with their headlines. And the man has no credence. We are partly in this mess because of the media and especially the Apprentice. Again, providing a false narrative. |
| It’s cute that he thinks people will still want him by then. And Donald, I don’t think you’re gonna last four years. Your health isn’t great. |
The border was a factor but not the primary factor. When the incumbent sitting POTUS with a 40% job approval rating seeks re-election and then his campaign collapses 3 months prior to the election causing him to back out, the incumbent party has zero chance of winning that election; especially when the last minute replacement candidate is also the VP of that very unpopular sitting president. Harris had no chance even with her opponent being one of the weakest major party nominees in our history. |
Agree but you’re both right because the border issues were a big reason his approval was at 40% in the first place. |
