Great, so more minority rule. Love it. Well, maybe there will be tea in his future. |
Well, if Trump desires it Of course he'd do it. You think there's anything he wouldn't do? What wouldn't he do? I 1000000% agree with the PP who said she wishes the people who called her hysterical had been right. I'm just so exhausted and wrung dry from this. I vowed not to be at anxiety level 11 through this whole presidency but how are you supposed to not be? |
But Obama will get in Trump’s head. Obama has been in Trump’s head for almost 20 years. I hope he runs if Trump proceeds with this. |
This take comes to a different conclusion: https://cornerstonelaw.us/22nd-amendment-doesnt-say-think-says/ |
It’s a distraction, yes. Is Trump serious? Probably yes too. What should not be happening is the media covering it the way they do. The way they are presenting it now gives it oxygen. It should be presented as crazy person has another crazy idea. End of story. |
That has a giant error in the second paragraph regarding Teddy Roosevelt so I’m not thinking much of its legal acumen. |
Well. 3/4 of the states are in needed for a new amendment. Not likely that is going to happen. |
First paragraph: WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump did not rule out the possibility of seeking a third term in the White House, which is prohibited by the Constitution under the 22nd Amendment, saying in an exclusive interview with NBC News that there were methods for doing so and clarifying that he was “not joking.” And Trump said there are ways. Sounds like accurate reporting of the news. |
The problem with this is that it's not just 1-2 crazy people. Maybe that was the case a few months ago, but it isn't now. It's a lot of people engaging with it seriously. It would be worse overall if MSM ignored it, because then those of us who don't follow conservative SM and news sources wouldn't know about it. |
I’d absolutely vote Obama back in if there is a 3rd term option. And he should probably just run for Vice President with whomever the Dem primary candidate will be, just to be safe. |
This piece in the Atlantic raises the interesting point that enforcing the 22A will have its own challenges: https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2025/03/trump-third-term/682243/

Exactly. He is threatening law firms and judges to completely upend and overtake the last thing that might hold him in check (since the NPC GOP Congresspeople have completely checked out and capitulated). |
Exactly. No need to be constrained by norms any more. |
Constitution might say no third term, but is silent on 4th and 5th terms. |
Well now that Trump has destroyed the United States, he won’t be the most powerful leader anymore anyway. People will soon stop giving him the time of day. |
