I'm a Canadian who lived in DC for a few years, and then returned to Canada.

First, yay Canada for defeating USA in hockey! I'm sure there was more motivation to win because of the tariffs etc.

Second, I believe Trump would invade Canada if he could and if this would improve his approval ratings. But it's hard to imagine the rest of the world standing by to let that happen. I'm thinking of the history books and a section on US annexing Canada - can't see it.

Right now I'm just boycotting US travel and goods. But I'd join the military and fight to my death if needed.

I think the bolded is probably right, but what a depressing state of affairs that we're even having to think about it. As an American, I'm proud of our relationship with Canada. It might be a glib way to say it, but y'all are our buddies. We've got an undefended border, because we're friends. We've fought together as allies. The idea that we're just going to, even non-seriously, start talking about annexing a country that was alongside us at D-Day? I don't even know what to do with that.

Canadian here. I totally agree. Americans have been great friends to Canada. Sad to see what is happening. I lived in the US for 16 years. Americans are kind, generous, lovely people.

Ukraine’s survival has been wholly dependent on US military surplus. The only thing that could save Canada in an invasion is if US soldiers fulfill their oath to defend the Constitution against the traitor Trump, or desert when he stops paying them.

The EU provided 93 billion to Ukraine, and the US has provided 75 billion to Ukraine. Yes the US has single handedly provided the most aid, but collectively the EU has provided the most. Do you think the EU would not provide assistance to Canada? How about New Zealand or Australia. The US would be going at it alone, with maybe Russia and North Korea as allies. Canada would have everyone else while China sits back and takes Taiwan and South korea.
