Not Poolesville? |
Nope. Poolesville, then Damascus, then Rockville |
This is a bad situation, no doubt. I don’t think anyone wants anyone getting shot at. But let’s not overreact. It’s not like any of these kids wrote the N word on a desk or anything that would really embarrass corporate MCPS, right? |
No mention of videoing?
Because it wasn't within walls of school? |
BCC could have handled it better. I appreciated the Remind updates but my kid was told to hide in a closet for over 2 hours which seems ridiculous if there was no threat inside the building. No way to reach him so he had no idea what was going on for a very long time. |
The fear was that the suspect carrying the weapon might be a BCC student looking to hide from police by returning to the building, WITH the gun. Police did not want to get into a gun fight in a building full of kids. They took some time to look at all the cameras and determine that kids could be dismissed without too much risk. I think that was the right decision. |
Students teachers staff sat in corners of rooms for hours on cold floors |
Were the parents of students involved contacted? did letter state if they were? |
Did they have phone signal inside closet? Were they able to check news see updates? |
They should be apologizing, downtown Bethesda was on alert including nearby private school. |
A gun fight might have been bad. Not having the N word printed 1000x bad or anything, but certainly would have been close. I shudder to think how bad this situation could have been considering one of these students might have used the N word in writing in addition to using it verbally. This is sarcasm, but it really highlights the core values of MCPS leadership. |
One would hope.... |
wut? |
Lunch arrived later in the day according to my kid and wasn’t the same in every classroom so I sense MCPS foraged a bit. My kids class got turkey sandwiches, friends classes got lasagna, really anything you can imagine was ready in the cafeteria at BCC or nearby schools. |
