The kids are exhausted. They should have an earlier and more age appropriate start to their morning. They are setting alarms at 5:30am for their school day. They need and deserve the 8am start time. |
The demand for before care will skyrocket and there not enough businesses out there to step up, it will be a crisis if half of the elementaries in this area start at 9:50am. I can get my kids on the bus at 8:55 and start work at 9:00am right now, but I have nonstop meetings starting at 9:00am and can't take them to the bus stop every day at 9:25. I'm sure I'm not the only one. |
Yes, every school is starting 30 minutes later under option E. You sound stupid. |
It's bad for the late start schools but because your children don't go to one of those, you don't care. I get it. You're a selfish b_. |
You're nuts. There are a lot of families that have elementary schoolers and middle schoolers. I have a 3rd grader and a 6th grader. This change impacts me no matter what. |
You are selfish and don't care about children at late start schools. Got it. Thanks. |
You do understand that they are playing and having fun in SACC, right? That's very different than sitting at a desk in their classroom. Gosh, some of you just have no idea at all what you're talking about. |
LADY. 9:50 - 4:45 IS STUPID FOR ANY CHILD AT ANY AGE. GET IT TOGETHER. |
This isn't about YOU. Your STUDENT can deal for 2 years. You, as a PARENT, are not considered here, not should you be. |
Wow. Just an observation. This thread has not been up for full 12 hours and almost as many posts as the MS thread that started 4 days ago. Did ES families really not read all the announcements about school times, because that it impacts ES is not new. |
Same here. My elementary school students thrive with a late start time. |
DP. Are you always this unpleasant? My kids would love those times. The later the better. |
My elementary kids are at an early start ES and it really is an ideal time. They're up on their own at 7, have time to wake up, get dressed, eat, spend a little time playing and then they're on their way to school. After school, they're able to come home, get a snack, and decompress a bit before sports and other extracurriculars start in the afternoon. Moving our school back by 30 minutes wouldn't be devastating but it would be much less convenient.
I have friends with kids at a late start school. 30 minutes moves them from "doable" to "very inconvenient". Their kids are typically off the bus between 4:45 and 4:50 pm. Moving their schedule back by 30 minutes would make after school sports or activities not possible. I also wonder what this would do to our elementary school teachers who live in other counties. Pushing elementary hours back so late throws late start teachers on the roads during peak rush hour time and if they have children, will they be able to secure care for the additional time? I'd much prefer C2 and have my kids have a much earlier start time than pushing elementary kids back so late in the day. |
They can't. The state requires 180 days or 990 instructional hours. They go to school for 180 days but have 14 days of extra time built into the year by making each day a bit longer than required. Without that extra time, they'd need have extra days in the calendar in case of snow. |
IT DOESN’T MAKE YOU RIGHT JUST BECAUSE YOU YELL. |
