And where the eff are the Democrats????

And where the Republicans?

This is the real question. How can anyone agree with how this is being done? The govt cannot be run like a business. People are not widgets.

Not if they were fired. Severance is for RIF.

Pretty sure they do. It's an involuntary separation

Yes, but it's a firing and not a RIF, so no severence.

They’re layoffs. Only someone that hasn’t experienced a layoff wouldn’t know the difference.

There is a difference in the government. A layoff comes with severence. A firing doesn't. These were firings.

Was it fair? Absolutely not. Was it legal? Absolutely not. But they fired them to avoid having to follow the regs.

This is a layoff. They qualify for unemployment. People fired for cause do not qualify for unemployment.

From one of the articles, the administation is teling agencies to fire for cause.

It will be easily contested at an unemployment hearing. Actual firing for cause requires advance notice of performance issues, etc. The employer claiming cause doesn’t magically make it true.

But is that true under Schedule F ?

Haven’t they implemented Schedule F as of last week?

No. Schedule F proposed regulation is under OIRA review and hasn't been published for comment yet.

They’re not even doing a proposed reg! They just skipped that step and issued an EO.

Thank you. I have a dear friend who is a probationary employee there. I want to be in the know so I can support her but want to avoid the "so are you fired?" texts and calls if I can

This is very kind of you. I wish my friends were supportive like this - they seem clueless to what is happening.

Most of us are clueless, please don't take it personally. The amount of things happening, and not just to feds, is too much to keep up with. Its like trying to drink water through a firehose.

In addition to the job loss of hundreds of thousands, a lot of vulnerable people will be hurt by these actions. Pure evil.

Do we think the government will own up to how many people it eventually terminates this year? I suspect not, though I suppose that might be FOIA'able

I am anticipating a huge increase in deaths of despair. This is not right...lives are being ruined overnight.

Presumably we see something in the jobs numbers but I don’t know that that will be broken out by sector

X1000. I am close and not even probationary. This is all too much.

I am so sorry.

I know quite a few people at CFPB who were fired this week. They are not probationary and they were supposedly fired for cause. No severence. Maybe they can convince the state to offer them unemployment, but goes against everything civil service laws are supposed to protect against.

Sorry to be clear - just firing them with no notice, no severence, no consideration of years of service - that's what goes against civil service protections.

It’s called muzzle velocity for a reason.
