Can you imagine what the response would be if a bunch of white kids beat a black kid like this?

My guess is they would be expelled

The people who run the Greentree shelter do a terrible job. They don’t have enough structures and supports and allow all kinds of atrocious things. I wish the state would regulate them. It would make a difference in how the kids behaved at school.

How do we even know whether anyone in the video has any relationship with the shelter? Did they say in the email or is that just a rumor?

I don’t know anything about Greentree, but my friend worked at similar facility (Sheriffs youth ranch off 270) said you could never turn your back or else a kid might hit you from behind. Kids would play video games all night because they were scared of others around them, then sleep in school instead.

Troll looking for the scoop. Spread rumors and stir the pot. You don’t really care.

An ideas on who we could call to get some action on this? School board? Is the news covering this?

Throw these kids in jail.

Stop wasting a penny of the MCPS budget on these kids.

Expel them TODAY and send them to jail. Make this their parents problem. Every penny spent on these kids by MCPS is a waste.

You think these kids come from loving homes with supportive loving parents?
No, they don’t.
I agree they shouldn’t be allowed in school. They should be in detention for acts like this. With education provide towards getting a GED.
The parents don’t GAF which is why the kids turn out like this. Sending them “ back to their parents” won’t do anything.

Why hasn’t this made the news?

There appears to be lots going on in the news these days so maybe that's why? Tho local county paper news could cover it.

It will stop them from terrorizing the school community

These are tough kids who have had a rough life and probably have mental health issues. Its MCPS not providing the support. Most of these kids probably can't read, write, or know basic math. If you have ever worked with these kids you'd know its far more complex. A lot of these kids are DJJ, not foster care.

Other kids at Whitman should band together and swarm the offenders and give them a retaliatory beating — strength in overwhelming numbers. If adults won’t protect these kids, they are going to have to take steps to protect themselves.

My son is a Whitmam student. He claims the main agressor has been expelled and the student recording the fight has been suspended. Not sure about the second aggressor. This is from the student rumor mill so not sure about accuracy.
