Because why should well-off kids from nice backgrounds be able to live peacefully huh? They should be forced to live in terror too.

Now you see the end result of supposedly "compassionate" programs. It's really just score settling and old vendettas come to life. Resentment for the achieving and functional class and punishment for their children.

If Whitman parents dont do something about this they should be absolutely ashamed of themselves.

So.. where should those kids be sent to? Anywhere other than Whitman? NIMBY at its finest.

How about a school in their own neighborhood? With kids from a similar background who are used to dealing with this particular brand of BS

You can always count on Whitman parents to come through with three arguments:

1) We aren't THAT rich. We're practically poor by Saudi standards.

2) All problems at Whitman are the fault of the "the group home"

3) Whitman families should be able to "buy out" of dealing with kids who have experienced trauma

To your 3) : no not just Whitman families, all families feel that way

Traumatizing MORE kids is no solution for anyone.

That pretty much is the MCPS solution. The core of restorative justice is to spread trauma far and wide. Everyone gets a chance to get assaulted now. Over and over again by the same perpetrators.

Expel all the aggressors. Period. Whitman does not need that kind of trash there, nor does any other MCPS school.

I think we should make appropriate consequences for the violence and work hard to show them how much their lives matter. They matter this many detentions and this many suspensions worth.

=second degree attempted murder charge and accessory to such. Life is not a video game and you must pay for your violent racism.

Parents need to protest/petition. These kids need to be kicked out asap! This could have gone very very bad..

Slap assault charges on them!

Kids who get in fights or cause trouble at school should be kicked out. Full stop. They can go to juvie on their own time. Stop subsidizing this nonsense. Maybe Elon can do something about this.

concentrating trauma in poor schools is also no solution.

I heard Trump liked to get into a lot of fights when he was younger. He should've gone to juvie hall I guess.

Miller was a terrible assistant principal during his time at Churchill. He's a big supporter of restorative justice. That's what will happen to those that caused the fight. No consequences, no penalties. More fights to come.

That's really disappointing. I went to Whitman in the early 2000s and the principal at the time (can't remember his name) was great and really fair. Pretty much everyone liked him. It's very sad that these plugged in principals that cared about students have been replaced by political activists that dont care at all about the children's safety. It's actually horrifying.

You're thinking of Jerome Marco, the Principal prior to Alan Goodman.

The person who wrote that Miler was a terrible administrator his single year at Churchill is absolutely correct. He was a complete joke who earned little respect from teachers. I know because I am a Churchill teacher.

Dr. Marco was an utter treasure and broadly respected. My mom worked with him at Whitman for years, and he was beloved by the less-connected families and the POC there.

I cannot believe how powerless schools are dealing with violent kids. I feel heartbroken but enraged.

Trump got sent to military school because of his behavioral issues. Instead of moving violent youth from public school to public school, we should do the same today with the difficult students like those at Whitman. It turned out well for Trump.

Can you imagine what the response would be if a bunch of white kids beat a black kid like this?

GET. RID. OF. THESE. KIDS. Make them their parents problem. If their parents want them to have an education- great, they can pay for it.

Throw these kids in jail.

Stop wasting a penny of the MCPS budget on these kids.

Expel them TODAY and send them to jail. Make this their parents problem. Every penny spent on these kids by MCPS is a waste.
