I don't read MAGA sites, but this really isn't one... |
Winds in some areas are near 100 mph |
| My daughter just posted the smoke in air (she lives between the 2 big fires). Horrifying!! The air quality is bad which also affects the populace. Thankful for the firefighters and the shelters. |
| If you’re whining about hydrants and water you are completely ignorant. Go look up slurry. |
Yeah it’s so stupid other countries use it. https://www.wired.com/story/spanish-wildfire-defenses/ |
It’s leaning that way more and more |
And here https://www.cbsnews.com/losangeles/news/on-your-side-home-sprinkler-system-offers-protection-from-wildfires/ |
Oh and recommend here https://californiachaparral.org/fire/protecting-your-home/ |
The issue is you. You think you are the smartest person here and that no one has ever thought about fire mitigation. Only you. No one else ever has or is. Only you. It's all about you. Go away and go learn before you come take over a discussion with your self centered idiocy. |
Not sure it would be effective in the face of huge winds, and considering how many of these sprinklets LA would need since so much of the residential areas borders nature. You really cannot compare that to a tiny village's set up with 40 towers. LA would need thousands. |
This!! MIL coverage dropped last month. She owns house outright but no fire coverage now and she’s in Ventura county. |
Do people not how drought and dry areas can create fires easily? We've been in drought in Loudoun for years. A home caught fire because of mulch stored under a deck. It was so hot, it caught fire. People died in a fire when someone threw a cigarette that hadn't been entirely extinguished into a mulch bed near a home. |
No. They will remain single family homes. People rebuild. There’s no way pacific palisades, Malibu or anywhere near the Ocean front will be anything less than multimillion dollar property. This will not affect anything. These people love their lifestyle and paradise there. |
Damp surfaces put out the embers carried by wind, it’s not a wall of fire moving through the area. Water on roofs and yards would go a long way. |
I am sorry I didn't mean to be offensive. I know that firefighting takes a number of factors and counter measures especially when this big. I don't see why it is that crazy to point out a large body of water so close to a massive fire and how it's frustrating that we can't find a way to more effectively fight a fire that has water so close. I am not saying this would solve all the problems. Anyway, apologies again. I didn't mean to make anyone upset. I have spent a lot of time in that area and truly love it so this is heart breaking. |
