GA is on the rise, but it is not on any list of public ivies yet. The others listed by PP are. The Forbes public ivies list is below; other public ivies tinker with the list a bit, but UGA doesn't show up on any. And this term was coined back in 1985 with certain criteria.

Forbes' full list of "Public Ivies" can be found below:

Binghamton University - New York
Georgie Institute of Technology - Georgia
University of Florida - Florida
University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign- Illinois
University of Maryland - College Park
University of Michigan - Ann Arbor
University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill
University of Texas - Austin
University of Virginia - Virginia
University of Wisconsin - Madison

UGA is better now than this list was in 1985. Take this to a different thread.

DS Humanities Major
1530 SAT
10 AP/honors (Calc BC/11, Linear Algebra/12, Econ, Latin IV, APUSH, APWorld, AS Lit)
Gpa on a 100 scale- attends an OOS boarding school. 97 weighted, 94 UW.

The GPA is lower than others- he’s had a few B’s but I’m hoping that the rigor is enough. It’s a top choice for him.

Your kid may be a likely candidate for UGA Honors. Fingers crossed!!

In! Nothing about the honors college but we are thrilled!

First, that's an empty term. Second, the only public university that's anything like an Ivy League university is William & Mary. Third, the strongest public university in the southeast isn't any of those; it's Georgia Tech.

Not above UVA and UNC. And I wouldn’t say about WM, just different.

Is there a chance to apply to the HC if you weren't auto-admitted?
