For the thriftier among us:

My kids loved staying at the cabins at Fort Wilderness at WDW. It is considered on-property and is (relatively) inexpensive- same price as the rest of the value resorts. Lots of room for them to run around outside around our cabin, the woodsy vibe is a nice contrast to all the concrete and bustle of the parks, loved visiting the horses, and the best part- our own golf cart (rental) to zip around on, which they thought was very fun. They also liked the boat ride over to MK. They were elementary age.

DCUM hate them, but our kids love Great Wolf Lodge - especially in winter.

Granted it was almost ten years ago but from all the hotels we have stayed when kids were little that was the most kid-oriented one with funny touches: disco dancing in the elevator, a new Lego toy every day for the kids from housekeeping, bunk beds with Lego movies on individual screens, etc. And Legoland outside the front door.

Yes! Legoland Hotel in Germany was a hit. As was the Asterix hotel outside Paris (need a cheaper fun alternative to Disney Paris? That's it!) I don't think either had a pool though. Did not stay at the Legoland Hotel in NY but the park was a hit.

We stayed in the Legoland Hotel in NY for a night and I think my kids liked it more than they liked the park. They still talk about the breakfast, I liked the bar overlooking the big Lego play area.

- Hotel LEGOLAND and LEGOLAND Castle Hotel in Denmark (they're right next to each other and share amenities).
- Croc's Resort in Jaco, Costa Rica (they LOVED the pool and the breakfast buffet included in the room rate; I heard downtown Jaco is too hectic and touristy but this hotel is at the outskirt of the town so we never had to go to downtown Jaco).
- Ocean Riviera Paradise in Playa del Carmen (not the best all-inclusive in the area, but the price is very reasonable for what you get, and kids loved it).
- Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg (although as an adult I get quite bored after a while).

I should add that they're two boys age 4-5 and 7-8 when those trips happened.

Hyatt Aruba

I was going to post exactly these 2.

Does anyone have recent experience with Hyatt Aruba? Looking to book it for parents and two teen daughters.

IMO it's expensive for what you get, but I think all Hyatt's are. They do have a great location which is what you are paying for.

We had this experience at the Legoland hotel in Florida. The park closed at 5 on the days we were there and the kids had so much fun at the hotel between then and bedtime.

Family hotels in the Dolomites. We stayed at Family Hotel Posta. Kids were 4 and 7 and loved the kids club.

My kids loved Club Med until about age 12. They loved the kids clubs, and we loved the adult time. The one in Cancun was a favorite / good rooms, tennis, sailing.

Montreal and Quebec City are great. We’ve been lucky to have a good exchange rate when we go so far. We got two big rooms at the Ritz Carlton one year when the exchange rate favored US by a large margin.

You can ride through Vermont and stay for a night.
