I had an epiphany today: I don’t hate trump - I hate his supporters.

1. PLEASE don’t count your chickens before they hatch.🐣

2. I think what OP may be worried about, and frankly so am I, is that Trump may drop dead tomorrow, but his followers will simply be waiting for the next charismatic authoritarian to fall in line behind. It’s a legitimate worry.

When people are demoralized and marginalized they will fall for personalities like Trump. Maybe stop going out of your way to demonize these people.

A lot of the Trump supporters I know are neither demoralized nor marginalized. They just don’t care about democracy. They think Trump was great for the economy and hate LGBT people and don’t care about anything else.

In other words, morons.

DP. This has long been a talking point of the left, but I have yet to see any evidence of such. Please provide a citation that “Republicans / Trump hate LGBT people.” Because I’m a Republican and certainly don’t hate the LGBT community, nor do I know anyone who does. Plenty of us have beloved friends and family members who are gay/trans. So where, exactly, is your proof that Trump hates this community?

It’s not a talking point- like seriously wtf, I’m talking about people I actually know and go to church with.

Across the board being anti-LGBT is their #1 issue. They don’t want to see LGBT people on tv, don’t want gay marriage to be legal, don’t want sex education in public schools to include LGBT topics or normalize LGBT. And they all love Trump.

Doesn’t sound like anyone I know - not even remotely. The only objections people I know have is not wanting gender instruction (of any gender) in elementary school. Sex Ed - sure. But of course, that’s something Democrats want to roll gender discussion into.

Well, that’s who your governing coalition includes and they’re not an insignificant number of people. Like with abortion the Republicans will need to follow through on what their constituents want, particularly these wedge issues. If you care about LGBT rights, the Republican Party is not for you.

You still haven’t provided any examples of what elected Republicans and Trump have done or said that = “hate of LGBT people.”

That’s not what you originally asked for- you claimed I had no “citation” Republicans hated LGBT people (as if Republicans need proof for their beliefs! BIG LOL!!).

It would have been hard to find a Republican politician who would have outright admitted to favor overturning Roe v Wade 5 years ago but here we are.

Republican voters know what they want and they know the coded language that their politicians and pundits use. Look through this very thread, buddy.

It’s beyond obvious you have zero citations to prove your claim that “Trump/Republicans hate LGBT people” - the claim YOU made, which is helpfully bolded above. I didn’t ask you about Roe v Wade. So thanks for playing, “buddy.” More lies and propaganda from the left.

Either way, he’s soon to be gone and won’t be our problem anymore.

But the 50-odd million people who will probably still vote for him this November aren’t going anywhere. And those are the people I really, truly, viscerally despise. Because they gave trump his power. Without these imbeciles, trump would be nothing. He’d literally have the same influence as a crazy screaming homeless man shouting at no one in a city park. That’s what trump would be without the millions of supporters who give him his power. These are the the people I hate. Not trump. trump is just a symptom. His supporters, his sycophants - they are real problem. The disease.

It really made me sad when I came to this realization today, because until now, I assumed that things were going to be awesome after the election and we’d never have to suffer his buffoonery again. But then I realized his supporters aren’t going anywhere. They’re still going to be around regardless of whatever happens to him. And that infuriated me.

I just don’t know how to get past this. I’m just consumed with anger at the realization that probably should’ve occurred to me earlier, but didn’t. I was so consumed with hating trump that I wasn’t able to see who I truly should’ve been hating even more. And now realizing that these people will still be around after he goes away, it just ruins everything.

Very upset tonight. Can barely contain my rage.

His supporters hate America and all that it stands for. They’re also super weird.

Um, it’s progressives who hate America. Everyone knows that. And all the purple-haired weirdos are democrats; not republicans.

Nice try though.

What? I stated this very clearly- the Republicans *that I know,* as in real life people, absolutely 100% hate LGBT people. Oh, you liberals have an interest in the welfare of others ("invest" in them) as long as you don't have to pay for it yourselves.

Because of you democrats, we have a very progressive tax system where half the population pays nothing in income taxes. You certainly work to assist yourselves by demanding others pay everything ("invest") for you.

But we do pay for it and don’t resent it like conservatives do.

You pay for it with other people's money, not your own.

What are you talking about. Yes I pay taxes.

I despise how conservatives only care about issues when it affects them personally. It speaks of a fundamental narcissistic view if the world

I think modern conservative movement has completely lost its own way. They abandoned family values and personal responsibility to be a cult if personality around trump. The worst of it is the hypocrisy is the point. Trump lies like a rug and spew bike comments but Vance got his feelings hurt about being called weird.

A poster on the last page listed articles very clearly specifying anti-LGBT Republican policies. The inconvenient facts aren’t going away.

I’m talking about real people who are in my life. I don’t have to name them for you on a public website. You can keep accusing me of lying… but I am not. I’m not sure what is satisfying about posting “you’re a LIAR!!” hysterically online to a stranger.

It is… weird.

What? I stated this very clearly- the Republicans *that I know,* as in real life people, absolutely 100% hate LGBT people. This is not a lie or exaggeration, nor do I have to provide you with “proof.” You can either believe me or not- these are the people YOU are siding with. None of this is my problem because no matter how many Democratic policies I disagree with, I don’t think they are based on bigotry or fear or hatred.

Name them, and can you cite how did they expressed their hate to LGBTQ. You cannot provide any proof because you are lying. Not even weird because democrats lie as often as they breeze. No one believes you my dear. You are the most hateful human if you are spitting out this nonsense.

Just FYI, the person you're responding to is a different poster.

Maybe they are just… bad people?

Why doesn’t anyone consider this is possible?

This country has always had lots of bad people. Look how much Jim Crow laws were accepted and how hard people fought against desegregation.

Some percentage of the electorate is just lousy and have to be dragged into civilization by the rest of us kicking and screaming.

So instead of addressing the root causes you just want to dismiss almost half the voting population as “bad”. You sound lazy and unintelligent.

They could also be called stupid but I don’t really see that as different from bad. I’m a casual observer not a politician or a pundit. If you find that triggering look within yourself.
