She picked Tim

But she would have lost Michigan in return as so so many Muslim voters there pissed at Biden for Gaza response….

Shapiro would have caused party infighting which is sad to see a Jewish politician as controversial…

Shapiro would have been divisive for a variety of reasons. Walz is a "safer" pick and Shapiro will be campaigning hard for this ticket in his state and continue to grow his national stature for the future.

That tweet sounds like a lot of cope to me. I think the GOP was really hoping it was Shapiro and now they have to campaign against Joe Midwest.

Right?! Why didn’t she pick Shapiro and try to make a battle for PA? Did Shapiro not want it? Did the opposition research find stuff on him or Kelly? This is “meh” for me but maybe he’ll surprise us?

If she’s going to get PA, it will be on her own, she doesn’t need the state’s gov to carry the state. I like Shapiro a lot but his previous statements are a distraction in this current political environment. People have short memories though and who knows what the landscape will look like in ~10 years, when he’ll be 61 - a very normal age to run for pres. Plus I think he needs to stay as Gov longer - he’s only in his first term.

Given everything going on Israel right now, the dual loyalty thing could've totally splintered the Democrats and it will always haunt Shapiro given the IDF story. I say this as a Jew who knows the antisemitic tropes too well.

Not to mention creating a constitutional crisis if he ever had to serve in her stead as Commander in Chief.

Gross antisemitism on display. Same comment would not be said about other groups.

Reform Jew here. Other groups don't volunteer for foreign military service and expect to be the leader of their domestic military. Do I agree that it's a constitutional crisis? No, not at all. And it wouldn't be an issue for most Jewish politicians. It will be an issue for Shapiro though. I'm so relieved he wasn't chosen.

He did not volunteer for foreign military service. That is misinformation. He was a volunteer. Two totally different things and very common for Jews visiting Israel to provide volunteer service. Please if you are going to speak for the Jewish community be informed.

"Bonder, Shapiro’s spokesperson, said Shapiro never engaged in military activities. He said Shapiro completed a program in high school that included a variety of service projects in Israel, including on an Israeli army base. He also worked on a farm and at a fishery in a kibbutz, Bonder said."

Doesn't matter at this point. The above is semantics given that he "volunteered on a foreign military army base" and it will sadly follow him for the rest of his career.

I don’t think this is true. I think in a few years (post Netanyahu) he will be able to rehabilitate this by saying something like when he went in the 90s it was in service of Oslo and a two state solution, or something. Right now “IDF” is closely correlated with “war crime” in people’s minds but that won’t always be true and I think he’ll recover.

+1 This is the dual loyalty trope. It's antisemitism 101. Now that you know, please do better in the future.

DP. Great! Now you guys can go talk about that elsewhere because Shapiro didn’t get the nod, Walz did.

He volunteered for the IDF dude. Never spent a day in the US military. It is a fair comment

Yes, he should get lessons from Trump about bronzer and golden toupees

Keep coping about his looks you guys. We're running against Jabba and a chubby bear who wears eyeliner. I'm not too worried about "looks".

And still 20 years younger than their candidate.
