It’s interesting that, in the past, when news traveled more slowly, the different candidates were chosen at the conventions and the voting public had plenty of time to make up their minds and vote. Now, when information travels at the speed of light, we seem to want the candidates chosen 8 or 9 months before the election and the conventions become nothing more than a coronation. In our fast Information Age, what’s wrong with having a meaningful, robust convention where the candidates make their case and one is chosen by the delegates? |
