There was not a survey. There was an email address in 2023 that anti-LGBTQ people spammed nationwide ("we need to get the whole country involved in FCPS" was Jeff Hoffmann's quote). Even then it had a only a couple of thousand responses. The written comments were almost all non-responsive and just gross anti-LGBTQ hate. The total number of people who said that they were "FCPS Parents" was fewer than 40. There are around 360,000 parents in FCPS. 40/360000 is not 80%. Fake number, fake news. This junk piece of "data" needs to end here.

Raises hand. I am an FCPS parent and responded to the FLE survey about combining genders. I said there were many problems with the idea, including some specifics, and they shouldn't do it.

And they didn't make the change, as they had said they would.

Agree--everyone's curriculum should not be dictated by what people opposed to the inclusion of immigrant, disabled and LGBTQIA+want, , nor by people who want to exclude information about the state's history with respect to race and enslavement. Public school is for all children. In FLE you are allowed to opt your kids out of certain things. Should you be allowed to opt out of learning about LGBTQIA+ students and their families? Of course not, but you are. As the Virginia Constitution says, you have a right to make decisions about the education of your children--not the education of other people's children. What that has meant practically in the history of Virginia and the other United States is that you may choose not to allow your children to attend public schools.

That’s not true at all. They also had focus groups in person and asked the kids - they and the kids didn’t want to be with the opposite gender for the lessons.

This is a juvenile comment. In a survey last year, parents said they didn't want their kids learning about these things with the opposite sex. It seems weird that fcps would start a pilot program doing just that. Your immature scrutiny is misplaced. We should be asking the school board why they're starting this program and not making fun of parents for their questions and concerns.

I’m not going to make fun. I agree, there’s no purpose for that. I don’t really see what’s wrong with same gender classes for FLE. The topics are natural science. Perhaps we should work to move past the “hush hush”, secretive air that surrounds such topics.

Modesty is developmental. Private parts are private for a reason.

You can't just "make it go away".

Only predators want to eliminate this natural, developmentally appropriate modesty.

Predators and the misguided who are busy trying to seem cool.

Unless we force clothing on our kids, they would happily run out of the house naked when they were little kids. 80 percentage ish of FCPS students who answered the survey using FCPS emails emphatically stated they do NOT want combined sex ed.

Quit lying, or trying to create a tyranny of the minority, where a handful of kids pushed by activists get to pull the curriculum from what the vast majority of parents, students and teachers want, to the desires of adult fringe activists with no ties to the children of FCPS.
