Or, because their simple illness can hurt many students, parents and their families who have health issues, are older, etc. |
I mentioned Michael Mina in reference to rapid tests serving as proxy for infectiousness. You've conveniently ignored that in your attempt to put me in some angry person box. |
If you spread something that you know can be deadly, and a person died because you selfishly spread it to them.. then what do you call that? You are looking for a free pass on your selfish behavior? What if it was your family member who died because of someone else being selfish and "had" to go to the store, restaurant, etc....ever consider who you might hurt? |
Okay, do you want to talk about this now and are you done proclaiming who is a good citizen and who is not? Yes, many people in the field have said rapid tests are an indicator of infectiousness. They say that because it's the only tool we had and it was better than literally everyone staying home. Not because it definitely means a person can transmit COVID. A faint line on Day 1 is more dangerous than a darker line on Day 6. |
Oh do tell in which NATO country you’re located where anyone would expect you to test for Covid anymore, let alone self-isolate for 10 freaking days. |
Who ever said that??? You people love to twist things. I live in a country full of people hostile to masking. Stop with the strawman crap. |
So then you admit that a previous poster is correct- you’re doing all of this FOR YOU because nobody around you cares to keep pretending that Covid is the boogeyman anymore. (Hint: if in your current environment people are actively hostile to masking, then the current variant is absolutely going to be spread around your school regardless of whether or not you selflessly martyr yourself and isolate for the next month…) |
JFC some of you are still brainwashed by COVID nonsense. It was all a farce and no one cares about this anymore! No one! Move on, it's 2024. |
This is great news. I hate masks and they do nothing. But keep believing in the power of your flimsy mask to keep you safe! lol |
They do help with the spread. Grow up. Doctors who don't mask with high risk patients suck. |
+1 Unless you can't take it for some reason, why would anyone not get Paxlovid? The criteria to qualify are so broad that literally anyone can qualify. The government bought so much that they couldn't use it all before it expired. When I used it last year, the expiration date had been extended. I was using a prescription that had already expired based on it's original expiration date but not based on the extension. It still worked fine. I got better quickly. Then I got a rebound infection that felt like mild allergies for a couple of days (a lot of people talk about the rebound infections but mine was nothing). Do people not know that you can get Paxlovid really easily? |
I know a couple of people who took Paxlovid and they had really bad side effects. I would not take it unless I had a high risk condition. And it's not uncommon for people with high risk conditions to take drugs with which Paxlovid is contraindicated. |
DH and I - late 50's - just got Covid for the 2nd time. First time it was "just a cold" but this time we both got very sick - fever, GI symptoms, endless coughing and congestion. DH's oxygen got down to 95% on the 2nd day so he got Paxlovid - it worked, but he did get mild rebound symptoms and tested positive >2 weeks (he has to test negative before going back to office). I was positive for about 10 days. My heart rate is still elevated 2 weeks later - don't know what that means.
Agree with OP that seems to be a different animal. Very strange virus. |
I also lost my smell and taste, and got "Covid tongue" where my tongue was sore and burning. Not fun, and I've lost about 5 pounds. |
Same. |
