Wouldn’t explain William’s light schedule, he’s just slightly ahead of her work-wise.
I think they are using these years to focus more on the kids.
Seeing how some of the Royal children have turned out, may not be the worst choice. The kids are likely to be sent to boarding school as well, so not that many years remaining. William and Kate will also never actually retire, and will work until the day they die (basically)….so might as well take more time now and ramp up later. Not that it isn’t a cushy gig in a lot of ways..but I think their overall strategy makes some sense.
