TikTok holdouts

We are. Any adult who casually refers to having seen something on TikTok is immediately relegated to moron status in my head.

Me too. My teen was on it but has left.

Same. I’ve even stopped posting on FB and Instagram (although DCUM is still a bit of an addiction but I’m working on that). Mid-20s DS says he recently closed his TicToc account after he realized how much they track everything you do.

I love how when you read the above threads, all (literally) of the DCUM kids aren't interested at all in TikTok. (Apparently on their own even.)
Is this impressive parenting? Or delusional?

Boys are less interested in social media than girls - teen boys basically just watch YouTube.

The feeling among a lot of people (both younger and older) these days seems to be that all social media eventually becomes people using it to sell stuff or promote themselves and then it becomes filled with ads and other undesirable content. The exception to this seems to be SnapChat, which is still popular among teens. But I get the feeling that peak TikTok happened during the COVID years, maybe 2020-2021, and its been a little downhill ever since.
