Carolina Brito should never have been hired to begin with. Let me explain what I have discovered. I will tell you all how to look for this info. First of all, she was principal of the Rafael Hernandez School in boston public schools. She was making great money. Principals there make up to 160k a year, even higher than D.C principals. You might argue that salaries are comparable so it makes sense for her to have transferred from Boston to D.C. But that is not the complete story.

She told staff at Rafael Hernandez that she needed to leave the school so the school wouldn't get "punished alongside her." This was in March of 2024. Then she suddenly gets hired by Cristo Rey around April 2nd, 2024. Search on Google "Carolina Brito Cristo Rey" and you will find a facebook post that has the link to the hiring details. This is proof that she was forced out of a very nice job at Boston Public Schools where she was clearly disciplined for something she did. This is the only reason to leave and accept a way lower paying job at Cristo Rey (the salary difference is at least 50k lower or more).

Then by some miracle she was offered the job at D.C for Oyster Adams. And now I'm seeing staff morale there is low?

If all of the parents bring up this point to the D.C superintendents, then they will hear your voices. Parents are taken more seriously by the superintendent than teachers. Your school deserves a better principal.

Unhappy teachers should find a situation that brings them happiness or escalate their issues and claims through the appropriate channels vs recruiting parents to impart themselves into a situation where they also have a very limited scope.

Some terrible teachers in the middle grades, esp math. My child learned nada. Crazy science and Chinese teachers.

LOL! Are you new here? The appropriate channels don’t care and just want the principals to be their puppet to implement what they want and the big thing is their equity agenda.

There have been so many bad principals in DCPS over the years that were retained who should have been fired or let go. As long as you are a yes person, you are good.

not "a parent" but a collection of parents can force a superintendent's hand. Here's a simple tactic. Parents can threaten to remove kids from the school and go someplace else. Then the enrollment goes down and then the district has to make a choice if it's worth keeping the principal or not.

Of course they can.. and should.. if THEY deem it fit.. not because an anonymous staff members posts a vague posts rallying support on ousting a principal 2 years into the position..

Hi - I may be setting myself up to get flamed here, but I’m trying to understand the concerns about the principal or Oyster right now. My child has been there for a few years and, honestly, our experience has been very positive? I’m wondering if there is a major crisis happening that I’m unaware of that might affect families, or if different people are just having very different experiences.

You can see that Ana originally accepted a low paying job in some private school out in Wisconsin in 2024 before changing her mind to go to D.C. As another person pointed out, the staff morale is low. If it's low, they are likely to leave and get replaced by less experienced teachers. Do you not see an issue with that?
