Have your teachers reach out to OA teachers. He lacks basic communication and management skills to be a principal anywhere.

Lots of stuff. Bottom line: he does NOT care about children. Zero. Even if he did, he’s not a leader. Doesn’t have what it takes. I have no idea how he was able to get hired as a principal. Before OA he was AP at Jackson Reed and the reviews from there are nothing to be impressed about. He must have friends in Central Office.

Also, he quit on the spot after having a very public tantrum. So he’s not mature enough to be a principal.

There really is too much to list but he's not going to be successful as a principal anywhere. He is very polished and will present well in an interview, but that's where it ends. He might be okay at a very low-performing school that needs someone to come in as a dictator and run all the teachers off for a clean slate... a school where any change would be welcome... but if that's not your school, steer clear.

Yeah, lots got deleted. Not sure why.
1) He was dismissive of parents' concern about bullying/violence. Accuse parents of being gossipers and exaggerating.
2) He was dismissive of students (never ever learned the name of any of the students, barely made an effort to relate to them, visibly showed disgust/dislike towards students)
3) He was quite inefficient in the running of things, disorganized communications, missed deadlines, etc.
4) He pretty much lied to teachers and parents. Many. He just straight up made up stuff.
5) He pit teachers in OA both campuses against each other
6) He hid data (refused to share the Viewpoint survey results)
7) He cause many very good teachers/staff to quit.
8) He brought in a teacher who touched inappropriately students
9) He played favorite with teachers (creating issues among teachers in different campuses)

I hope they are fully vetting him. The last thing ITDS needs is another Principal with a past...

Pineda lied to parents, teachers and students. He did not operate with integrity or grace. During an LSAT meeting he was challenged on the number of teachers at the school and he lied. He does not like children. I have seen him express genuine disgust at the quirky and sometimes gross things ALL KIDS DO. He harassed staff members to the point they retired or quit. He refused to communicate with families about issues and indicated violent behavior at the lower school was “age appropriate”. He told one family that a boy threatening to kill their daughter was only doing so because the boy liked her. He tried to change the educational & staffing model of the school and did not have the decency to tell teachers until they showed up for orientation with their new assignments.

When families finally got word and had a meeting with him, it was just ….horrifying. One teacher cried. Pineda looked like he was going to explode. After that, most knew he needed to go.

I only have one at the lower campus, but I’m told that the parent group used to do fun stuff. They are awful now - I think they must have been picked by Pineda because the president was super upset that he quit and blamed the OA community. I would do whatever you can to avoid hiring him.

Wait, what? Do you mean the PTA? Really? The president of the PTA blames the community? You bet the community got rid of that good for nothing dude. He did so much damage in just two years. I don't think he picked the PTA though. It doesn't work that way.

I am so glad he is gone but I am worried about DCPS ability to hire someone decent next. The interim Principal is OK for now but he shouldn't be the one staying. We need someone with energy, someone who is willing to workout the many issues that the school has.

Not the PTA, the Local School Advisory Team.

Be careful with the new directora. She burned ALL the bridges at her last school, caught in many lies, hounded out beloved teachers.

She not all awful - smart, creative, focused, driven. But can go Jekyll Hyde. Just be aware.
