NNAT was 120. Have all the “in-pool” notifications gone out yet? Or are some schools still pending? |
My son had similar score 4 years ago. He is now in 6th grade AAP. 148 for Q and 113 for verbal. GSPR 2F 2C, but his teacher put good words toward his math and science. |
The email came from AAP@fcps, so I think the FCPS sent it out to all inpools across the county |
This is not necessarily a bad thing. Verbal is the lowest priority score for the committee...which stinks for my kid because verbal was her best section. Quantitative is the highest score in terms of priority, but even that is only a slight bump. The major factor is going to the HOPE scale (was GBRS). For actual reading they use the DRA or whatever test they take now. That's definitely in the packet. |
Does FCPS send DRA result to parents? We've never see that. |
I have 3 kids in ES and the only time I've seen a reading test was when one or two teachers shared it at the parent-teacher conference. Mostly they don't chose to share it, though. If you ask for it, they will give it to you, of course. |
We saw our childs cogat scores , is in oakton pyramid, I did get the pool letter, what are the chances of getting in, his teacher does not like him a lot , so I am not optimistic about GBRS or other school recommendations.
Cogat scores was 146 ( 143 Q , 133 V and 139 N ) |
From my child's AAP submission packet from a few years ago, they did include the DRA result. It's on a sheet with other test scores, including NNAT and Cogat. |
they no longer do DRAs though, and are including fall iReady scores instead. |
Maybe it's teacher/school specific but my kid's teacher did some other reading assessment one on one for each kid that measures fluency, speed, accuracy etc. (sorry the name escapes me right now, not DRA). She seemed blown away when discussed at the P/T conf. I'm hoping it's included since DC didn't do well on the verbal section of the CogAT for some reason (115). |
So they do in pool letters for all grades? Or just 2nd graders? I’m very confused. New to fcps. |
I'd like to answer your question, but really you need to find the Advanced Academy Resource Teacher (AART) at your local school and have a chat. It will provide you with much clarity in your particular situation (new to FCPS). |
Only 2nd graders have the pool. You can find more here. |
Thank you. I thought pool notices happened at end of year for 2nd so I was confused. I appreciate the info. |
Our kid’s composite was 152. 99% composite and for each of the sections. I’ve heard there’s no such thing as a definite for AAP based on scores but I hope she will be in. |
