why does not one talk about wellesley college?

The alum network is one of the best I have experienced, and the alums are more supportive of each other than most, especially women, professionally. If you have worked with Wellesley alums, you know first hand.

OP's post is very strange, and uninformed. What is your real issue with Wellesley college, OP? Were you not accepted?

Lighten up, will ya? OP is asking a perfectly legitimate question. Given DCUM's obsession with USNWR and other rankings, why wouldn't there be a buzz here about a school/ that consistently ranks so high? Yes, of course, the obvious answer is that Wellesley has a highly self-selective applicant pool, so it's completely off the radar of most DCUM posters. If OP didn't realize this, it's possible that they didn't go to college in the US or perhaps didn't go to college at all. BTW, I'm a Wellesley alumna and I do agree with your point about the supportiveness of the alumnae network. Also, we're generally not mean girls, nor do we suffer them gladly.

Your post contradicts your claims, so you just outed yourself as a troll.

Wellesley College alums do not need to come to DCUM for validation. You would know that if you have ever been, but you have clearly not.

Wellesley is not hurting for applicants or matriculation so I don’t understand what the debate is. If you don’t want single sex college then apply elsewhere. There’s tons of reasons to choose Wellesley but anyone that needs convincing to go there it probably isn’t the place for you.

This is true of ALL troll posts, thank you.

Maybe this ^ poster is not only a troll. Maybe they are reacting to the frequent trolling of AWC (for example, the thread on Barnard that recently reappeared) on DCUM. ) I’m a seven sister graduate myself, and I’m sick and tired of it. Must we defend ourselves? Or like this poster, sometimes say say “It’s your loss. Take it or leave it.”

There is a troll poster who seems to be playing with ChatGPT, instead of working. Gee, sure hope that doesn't backfire.

Dept of Ed college scorecard says that average annual cost to attend Wellesley is $22k. How is this true if they award $0 merit?

Anonymous
Because it costs $90K all in. No thank you.

Such single-sex institutions can often be a hotbed for radical feminist indoctrination. While the academics at Wellesley are superb, the risk of being in an ideological echo chamber is too great.
Anonymous
Because it's not 1959 anymore.

People have options.

And there's a trend away from small liberal arts colleges.
Anonymous
Hillary went there, & you know how that pathetic story ends.

People who are not UMC and get need-based aid exist.

The vast majority of the student body would need to comprise these folks to get the average from $90k to $22k. Big if true.

I lived in Wellesley when first married. You never heard a peep from the college students unlike the Brighton area of Boston or Northeastern areas.

The school is behind the downtown. There are small shops where families and students shop around or go to eat.

Babson College is about 4 miles down the road, a 5 minute Uber ride and Babson has a lot more male students than female students. Plenty of places to meet men their age. And then go back to your clean peaceful college at the end of the night.

We crossed it off after a visit too. Found it cold and unwelcoming.
