Crickets from all the free Britney conspiracy theory nuts who believed and propagated information that she was completely lucid and functioning but drugged to the nines by her keepers. This is why I don’t believe ANY conspiracy theories.

I see both sides. The level of control over her probably made her crazier, though I sure there were mental health issues as well. She was exploited from a very young age and knows nothing else. I think the worst part is that she should have a guardian who wasn’t/isn’t a family member or connected at all. That seems impossible given the amount her family depended upon her and would probably lean on whoever was her guardian.

No. If her dad wanted the conservatorship purely for her well-being he would have stepped down in favor of someone else being in charge of it when their relationship first got rocky again. He also wouldn’t have had her working like a dog. Look at Amanda Bynes parents. While she was in her conservatorship she was resting and working on her mental health not working nonstop but of course her dad is a dentist who can support himself without need to mooch off his daughter.

A parent takes care of his child, even when they're fighting. You're not thinking this through.

Also, she wasn't working like a dog, she was working and keeping busy so that she would stay focused and not go off the rails. That's sensible, not exploitative.

Britney’s fortune was dwindled down to the single digit millions at the time her dad was made her conservator. Despite all the money he supposedly swindled from her in managing her conservatorship, he left her with $60 million plus in assets.

And anyone objecting to her working just doesn’t understand the nature of her mental illness. During the conservatorship Britney’s life was very structured, she was kept on a regimen of meds and therapy and she spent a lot of time working because as research has now made abundantly clear, there is little else that is better for the mentally ill mind than physical movement/exercise to regulate mood and sleep and ease anxiety, paranoia and depression.

And guess what? All those years in the conservatorship and Britney was the healthiest she’s been in her adult life. She is now going off the rails while barely working. She has nothing to focus and distract her from the mess inside her mind because she’s her own boss and she QUIT! And then got married and then screwed the housekeeper so won’t be married much longer but gosh darn she is FREEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

I would, if given the opportunity, say a personal thanks to Jamie Spears for insisting Britney wear an IUD those 13 years he had the power to request it. I say those thanks on behalf the child(ren) who were spared the pain of growing up with such a seriously mentally ill mother.

I’m the pp. No argument here. And I lump myself into that gross group – because here I am, publicly discussing someone I don’t know in the slightest.

I think she is a combination of seriously mentally ill and not very bright and it’s just sad.

This I suspect is true. And, in some ways, it’d maybe be better if she wasn’t as talented as she is? If she’d stayed in Louisiana and become say, a hairdresser, she’d have had less pressures, possibly found a husband who would’ve loved her for her rather than her money, and would’ve been able to work out her mental health issues in private rather than the world watching.

I don’t think so. Her mental issues seem pretty severe, I fear she’d be one of the many homeless people on the streets without her fame and fortune.

Kevin Federline seems to have been a pretty good parent (along with his wife) and they seem to be a close knit family.

Britney’s oversexualized image with no boundaries and no inhibitions seems to be a pretty clear sign of active mental illness.

She started dating Sam when he was 21. This was never going to last. It lasted longer than I expected it to.

I also don’t think Jamie had bad intentions. He may not have done a great job of managing the conservatorship but it is a very complicated thing given her fame and money and all that goes along with it, on top of a family member. When the relationship between Jamie and Britney soured, he may initially have thought this was more her illness and mental state than their relationship itself and that it would righty itself as it likely had before when she was feeling better. Moving to a neutral conservator was the right move once it was clear the relationship was damaged.
