NoVA used to have some amazing Democrats representing the area. They supported gay rights, the environment, and strong schools. They kept crime low and were not partisan hacks who spend all day on social media fear-mongering and yelling.

The reason many people moved to this area was due to the good governance and stable environment. The rise in crime and decline of the public school is sad to see yet it seems like a majority of NoVA voters support it for whatever delusional reason.

For a suburb with the wealth of Arlington, its schools really aren't that great. Arlington is in the top 10 richest in the county (and of course North Arlington is even crazier in terms of wealth), and yet its schools barely register in any national rankings. Even in statewide rankings, its schools are pretty mediocre.

That's because the parents in Arlington care more about sports and push back against more homework and rigor. APS is just giving them what they want.

They don’t have enough land to built more schools. The high schools especially are over capacity. That makes schools like Yorktown to have to pull kids from the non wealthy parts of the county.

I miss the NoVA Dems of 2015 and the sane leadership they had. The Republicans can be nutjobs at times who I wholeheartedly tend to disagree with on certain issues. I voted for all the local Dems in 2019 and didn't think twice about it. I wrongly assumed they would govern like their predecessors.

I feel politically homeless on the local level right now and I am concerned about the direction Fairfax is headed in. Long gone are the days where good governance and moderate politicians ran things up here.

Maybe I am wrong about all of this, I don't know. How does everyone else feel?

I know it's tough being a closet Repuglican in Nova these days.

It's probably tough to look at yourself in the mirror knowing how much you despise women and our country.
