At a shadow day we saw a kid, an athletic recruit we heard, who definitely seemed in. Brother already at school and a star athlete. Admissions director seemed to know the kid and was talking to him like he was already admitted. If I were that family and an interviewer told us our child was in I'd believe them.

Same kid, different schools. As a data point, ninth grade, coming from a K-8, full pay only applied to the three.

Do you think overall it was better that your child attended different schools? Do you think that the application processes were at least in part life lessons for your child? Or in hindsight, would you have preferred to attend and stay at a K through12? I’m asking for all of us with infants and young toddlers.

I'm a huge fan of K-8 schools. Had we sent our kids to K-12s they each likely would have stayed there (I know applying out is possible at a K-12 but inertia, etc.). As things developed they were each different kids with different needs, each of which was best met by different schools. Agree about the application process -- it is a nice preview for college, teaches some responsibility, etc. The interviews were also a valuable experience.

It's impossible to prove a counter-factual here, but we were invited to attend a dress rehearsal of a musical a few years ago right around this time of year. We went, went out of way to thank the admissions team who "invited" us and she was accepted.

Not sure if it’s a sign but DD just got a letter from a current student saying thanks for considering, etc. Not sure if everyone got that or not. Interview was months ago. Do most schools do this? She only applied to three schools ( 2 private and 1 Catholic).

I don’t think letters or contact from students or current parents is a sign. Nor are invites to school events. I think these go to everyone

Well we have received nothing - no invites to school events, no communication from students or current parents or anything. Is that a bad sign?
