Other than Jacinda Ardern's response to a request for comment, which to me did not read as upset, who else? |
The issue is that Meghan will not accept her place in the hierarchy. She refuses to be at all submissive to the people above her and is incensed that anyone has more perks or prestige than she does. I think the BRF did a lot to include her but she wanted to be the main star. Had no sense of deference to the line of succession and was affronted by it. Fundamentally I think she envies Catherine and will be a thorn in the side of the monarchy all her life. |
^just adding, I started out liking her. It was her behavior over time that really turned me off. I’m not sure American audiences really get it as there is a culture gap but I used to live in the UK and it’s clear her ungrateful entitled self-aggrandizing attitude was not okay. Honestly I don’t think the BRF realized what they were taking on when they allowed a professional image manipulator and wannabe Hollywood A-listed into their midst. She plays the game better than any commoner would. Add to this that she is more intelligent than all the Royals (and especially Harry) and they have a real problem on their hands. TBH I think she saw this too and was just frustrated that they were holding her back from using her skills to leverage her new lifestyle into a brand like the Kardashians. |
If this doesn’t read to you as upset you are not very skilled at decoding diplomatic communication. |
Nah, that’s your sour grapes on it, not reality. And I don’t even like her, I just think people are insane about her. |
There is no doubt the press published heinous things about Meghan (as well as many positive things). However they also published heinous things about Charles & Camilla, about the relationship between Charles & Diana, about Kate Middleton (too less photos anyone? Remember the upskirt shot when the wind blew her skirt up? Very very invasive digging around her and her family and everyone they had ever known? The hounded her for YEARS before marriage and didn’t relent for a while after). There’s no doubt Harry has a hair trigger for it as he claims to have been traumatized. But there really isn’t anything new about what the tabloids (which are uniformly horrible) did to her. Did she really think that there wouldn’t be scurrilous commentary and bigotry when a biracial woman married into the BRF? Of course not. She just couldn’t deal with not be in control of it all (which by the way the BRF isn’t either). She didn’t want to be part of the devil’s bargain the BRD has made with the press, she wanted total creative control over her image. |
And I think they’re each a joke, and neither is anywhere near as bright nor charming as they take themselves to be. Give me Camilla any day - but I’m not attracted to self-pity. YMMV. |
OK, sure. So, who else? You said several. |
+1. This is all just COMPLETE conjecture. It's actually mad. |
Like who? Vague statements suggesting problematic behavior with absolutely no specifics— is fanning the flames without being informative. Was that your goal with this post? If not, I’d genuinely be interested in knowing more about who these people are — and what their criticisms have been. |
Ah, yes, Camilla, who's friends with the person who called for Meghan to be stripped naked and paraded through the streets of every town in Britain while people throw feces at her. Camilla, who's taken it upon herself to call herself a champion for violence against women. |
She isn’t more intelligent - she didn’t do as well at school as Catherine, she doesn’t have any artistic skills, she can’t maintain relationships. I know I’ll get shouted down but I don’t particularly care. What Meghan is is manipulative and remorseless in her discarding of significant people in her life - not just her dad, but childhood friends, her mailing her ring to her ex-husband. She’s brutal but that attracts admiration and the comparative lack of drama brought by others is seen as weakness instead of what it actually is, personal strength. |
Camilla has done more to help DV victims than Meghan has done for anyone, at anytime. Yes, I saw their reality show. I wonder why she didn’t highlight Uvalde? What a total joke. |
I’m no fan of Camilla either, she just seems like pretty much a witch. But what people here in the US don’t appreciate is that the UK is a society that heavily values people paying their dues and sacrificing and doing their duty. Camilla and Charles started out in the most torrid tawdry and embarrassing way possible. Charles then had to wait nearly a decade to marry Camilla, did not ascend to the throne until his 70s (he is I think the longest heir-in-waiting in BRF history) and Camilla served him for many years while they rehabilitated themselves in the public eye. Now that they have stood the test of time and people realize he always loved her and was forced to marry Di they are more accepting (although he still really isn’t very loved there). But it took decades.
Meghan basically came in like gangbusters as if she wanted to single-handedly shake up the whole establishment. The establishment was not having it. She was astoundingly unintimidated by it all and miscalculated her own welcome in the family, which was always conditional on her fitting in not on her bending the establishment to her will. |
