Narrator: She is throwing away her vote |
Ah, the classic you must vote for the candidate who is already going to win because we live in a one-party jurisdiction. |
Someone please tell the Mayor that the ANCs have no role in law enforcement. Bike lanes and marijuana dispensaries only. If there’s time left, they will consider building permits. https://www.fox5dc.com/news/dc-public-safety-leaders-anc-commissioners-hold-crime-summit |
The mayor knows and made very clear to the ANC Commissioners last week that “great weight” does not hold any power to affect anything. I think the whole city is getting a bit tired of some Commissioners immature behavior. |
|
The doctrine of "great weight" was flawed from inception, it never made any sense.
Imagine you're the executive. You have the authority to make decisions. But there is someone else who you have to give "great weight" to. An important decision is before you, and you're 90% sure which way you want to go. But you consult with the other person, who feels the opposite of how you do, and after hearing him out you're only 60% sure of your decision. What do you do? Exactly what you would have done had you not consulted with the other person. There's only one mayor at a time. That person gets to make decisions. That's the nature of executive power. |
Your point is completely irrelevant, but thanks for posting the tweet. The whole thread is well worth a read. To the contrary of what you claim, it seems that Bowser and Contee are seeking to engage ANCs much more in helping to solve the city’s issues. |
| No one has ever been under any illusions about what power ANCs have to influence most D.C. government decisions except some ANC members, and possibly a handful of people who either (a) agreed in the past with positions ANCs took but no longer do or (b) were never previously paying any attention to them. |
| One of the things I like about Frumin and didn't like about Krucoff is that Frumin will make a show of listening to everybody. What that means is that when I have an unpopular opinion, i can get him to give me credibility by meeting with me. Further, he seems like he will be easy to dupe into being arbiter between multiple parties, no matter how bizarre one of the sides is. I plan on using that to my advantage. |
| Frumin will likely meet with anyone as time warrants, but he does have his opinions as to how things shake out, and he will likely stick to them. |
Yeah, I listened into his "listening session" on Saturday. He had all the time in the world for the Foxhallers who want to scuttle the new school at Hardy Park, but he politely told them he still supports it. |
Me, too, but I'm glad he's slowly killing the bike lanes via death by a thousand cuts. |
| No, he is not. |
| Frumin definitely comes across as squishy. He’s already used a lot of political capital and good will on the criminal code. Not off to a great start. |
Yes he is and should be happy about it. |
As grandmama says “He’s old enough to know better.” He lived here in the 80s and 90s. He knows how bad things can get in DC once families and businesses start to flee. The other council members came of age during the golden Obama years. They don’t know any better. But Frumin sure does. And now we wake up to a shooting in the heart of Cleveland Park. Complete lack of leadership on his part. Totally spineless. I would take Krukoff or Goulet over Frumin or at this point. I miss Mary. |
