because a bunch were dumped on them by another state who had no authority to do that. Those governors lied to the people and were basically human traffickers for a political stunt.

But weren’t those unlawful immigrants dumped in those other states by a federal govt that isn’t enforcing security at the border because doing so is unpopular with the political class in those states now doing the complaining?

So you think small, under resourced towns in rural Texas should absorb the massive costs of dealing with a huge influx of people who shouldn’t be here, but draw the line when a few hundred show up in NYC?

Seriously- how do you defend that?

I'm not defending anything, but last I checked TX, FL, and NY are part of the US, and the federal government has the authority to deal with illegal immigrants, not a governor who is looking to score political points and looking to run for POTUS in two years.

Also, Desantis had ZERO authority to ship illegal immigrants from TX, a state he has ZERO jurisdiction in. So again, he's basically a human trafficker. We should put him in prison.

Yes, the federal government has the authority.... but when the federal government shirks that authority, the states most heavily impacted need to take action.

And, are you equally as outraged about the mayor of El Paso (D) busing migrants to NYC?

DeSantis should be awarded a medal for what he did. The Democrats are FINALLY talking about the crisis at the border. That is a miracle.

No it’s not up to the states. Sorry not how it works. When Texas leaves can you join them?

Answer the question: Are you equally as outraged about the mayor of El Paso (D) busing migrants to NYC?

I do not care. It’s all a stupid political stunts. This is just a made up issue by the right wing media because they do not want to talk about Trump. Answer my question will you migrate to Texas when Texas leave the US?

DP. “I do not care,” a liberal tells the truth.

Yet it is not fair for the citizens of Harlingen, Los Fresnos, Weslaco, Mercedes, Donna, Rio Hondo and many other small towns along
the Rio Grande border to bare the burden of the quality of life in their towns being destroyed. I work with high school coaches,
teachers, and athletic directors in these towns. People cannot leave their homes after about 6:00 pm every day because of illegal
drug traffickers and people being trafficked. Virtually nothing is done to the coyotes trafficking people across the US border.

No other country in the world allows strangers to simply wander in and stay.

People in border towns chose to live on the border. At least half of them have jobs related to immigration or cross-border trade.

Yes. They chose a home in the US. What they *didn't* chose was to have an administration that essentially opened the borders for all to come - migrants, criminals, terrorists, etc.
They lived there BEFORE this administration came into office and totally upended the border policies that were in place. If you have listened to any of them being interviewed, their way of life has totally changed in the past 18 months.

Which is exactly why they should resettled in places with more resources and tax base and populations who brag that they’re sanctuaries- like NYC and MV

This whole episode has perfectly illustrated what hypocrites liberal elites are. DeSantis and Abott are geniuses.

Do you guys seriously think that illegal immigrants stay in those little bitty border towns? No, they don't.

What Desantis did was illegal, which is why he's about to get sued.

When you had to swim across the Rio Grande with only the clothes on your back, you better believe you are at the mercy and charity of the "itty bitty border towns". Ask me how I know.

But those illegal immigrants don't stay there, "sucking up resources", as Rs claim. The people in the little towns have been there for decades. Do you think these illegal immigrants have only recently been crossing the Rio Grande? Nope.

And let me remind you that both Bushes - Sr and Jr - are from TX, and they both provided amnesty to illegal immigrants.

The issue of illegal immigration has been around for a very long time, and there has been infighting within the R party about it. This is a mess that even the Rs can't figure out.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2005-01-09/mi-casa-es-su-casa-get-real

I used to be a R, and voted for both Buses. You are either very young or mired in the ultraright wing echo chamber to not know that previous R POTUS behaved not that dissimilarly to Biden on the issue of illegal immigration.

It has NEVER been this bad. Biden has set records for border encounters, migrant deaths, fentanyl seizures, terrorists crossing. These are not good records.
Quit trying to downplay the crisis we are currently experiencing. It is untenable.

So, what about the states that get them at the first place? Are they supposed to just keep them?

Yep. People like the PP don't care. Doesn't impact their daily lives or their schools and communities. They mock and deride those who are frustrated.

You really must live in an right wing echo chamber.

Many were actually settled in other states like MD. There are many threads on here about Casa de Maryland. Last I checked MD doesn't share a border with MX.

Also, CA has more illegal immigrants than TX or FL. NY already has a lot.
Also, if you really want our northern states to bear some of the burden, then send them to the midwest northern states. They have very few illegal immigrants.

Like I said, this is just a political stunt, and Desantis had zero authority to do what he did.

DP. You don't seem very bright. It's been pointed out repeatedly that migrants were sent to communities which pride themselves on being sanctuary cities, and welcoming to illegal immigrants. Of course those communities should bear some of the burden - they're the ones lecturing others on allowing illegal immigrants in! Midwest northern states don't declare themselves sanctuary states/cities - why would illegal immigrants be sent there?

In other words: those who sanctimoniously lecture the rest of us about taking in illegal immigrants can now put their money where their mouth is. The rest of us want nothing to do with it.

LOL.. CA, MD, NY -- all have a ton of illegal immigrants. They are already sharing some of the burden.

In any case, I'll repeat... Desantis had zero authority to go into TX and traffic those illegal immigrants. That is criminal. Imagine if some private citizen did that. That person would be considered a human trafficker, tried and imprisoned. But because the darling of the R party did it, that's ok, and "liberal cities deserve it".

Talk about not bright.

This "human trafficking" nonsense is so absurd. Here's the actual definition:

Human trafficking, also known as trafficking in persons, is a crime that involves compelling or coercing a person to provide labor or services, or to engage in commercial sex acts. The coercion can be subtle or overt, physical or psychological. Exploitation of a minor for commercial sex is human trafficking, regardless of whether any form of force, fraud, or coercion was used.
https://www.justice.gov/humantrafficking/what-is-human-trafficking

The transport of migrants to MV does not fit this definition, genius. No one was compelled or coerced into providing any kind of labor, service, or sex acts. But do go on.

As for CA, MD, and NY - what do all three have in common? Hmmm. Think think think... could it be sanctuary cities?

Not quite. Some have been forced to be drug mules for example.

Really? You're claiming that the migrants DeSantis flew to MV were "forced to be drug mules"? I can't wait to see that link I just know you're going to produce.

You might want to familiarize yourself with the difference between a state and a city before offering an opinion on any topic.

Ah. I see you were unable to use your critical thinking skills to see that I was obviously saying CA, MD, and NY all have sanctuary cities - which they do. I'm sorry you were also unable to rebut the definition of human trafficking, which you have been grossly twisting to suit your own partisan narrative. Please do better before offering an opinion on any topic.

People who hire the the trucks with full knowledge of the cargo, and play no other part in human trafficking, still get convicted for human trafficking.

Again, Desantis had ZERO authority to do what he did. He had no authority to hire a charter plane IN TX to move people IN TX to another state, irrespective of whether NYC is a sanctuary city, or not.

Just admit it - this was not "human trafficking," no matter how desperately you try to categorize it as such.

There are more sources where these came from.

There is zero evidence that these are “illegal” migrants. Why? Because they are here under an application for asylum following a credible threat determination by USCIS.

because a bunch were dumped on them by another state who had no authority to do that.

I agree, it's not fair for the towns on the border in Southern Texas to shoulder the burden.

+100
The constant gaslighting is something to behold.

Which is it? So border encounters with deportations and drug siezure are bad? Not even going to address the stupidity of the terrorist comment. But given your concern, what’s the answer? Shooting migrants in the leg like Trump wanted? Filling the Rio Grande with alligators and snakes like Trump wanted? Firing middles into Mexico like Trump wanted? Let’s hear your great ideas.

Biden's been flying and bussing illegals to NY for many months.

Another lie.

Exactly where is it stated these illegal immigrants in the above links are asylum seekers?

This has been posted on her at least a half dozen times, but MAGAs can’t read or comprehend.

https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2022/mar/16/tyler-kistner/claims-biden-secretly-flying-immigrants-us-cities-/

The federal government transports adult detainees in its custody from one facility to another, or from one U.S. city to another during deportation proceedings.

The vast majority of people on the flights are unaccompanied minors who crossed the border, requested asylum under immigration law, and are being released from federal custody to a parent or sponsor.

Some of these flights happen at night, but they are not covert operations. The same types of flights were done by the Trump administration.
