"Recovering" is a term to watch out for, though. It does not mean he'll be back as he was previously. Entirely depends on so many factors and we don't even know what the "emergency" was yet (though I too think, a stroke). Stroke recovery can look like "It's a year later and he seems pretty much the same as before." Stroke recovery can also mean "It's a year later and he's still not walking, his face is affected, he's still working on getting fluid speech back." The family will say he's "recovering" -- and both the above are part of recovering -- but it's a lifetime path, not one fixed point where, bam, you're declared "well" and exactly the same and back doing the same type of work as before. Not harshing the idea he's doing better, just noting the reality of how very individual these things are. |

DP, not the "liar" PP to whom you were responding. I agree with you. The game show announcement may end up backfiring on them as something they eventually have to cancel or hand over to someone else. I think possibly his family's and employees' attempt to create an impression he'll return to work just fine. But putting it out there now is kind of tempting fate. If it was a stroke, there is no way to know at this stage how he might be, by the time they'd have to start making that show, even if it's not scheduled to start until 2024. They've kind of attached a clear time frame to his recovery with this new announcement, and that seems really unwise, if it doesn't work out on that schedule. |
