Ding ding ding.

And it’s not Friedman who sees it - he’s literally being told by the highest levels in the WH they are concerned about this massively .

I don’t think people get just how precarious things are in developed parts in Europe right now.

Yes the food is great and the walkable neighborhoods are awesome and there are less fat people which is a huge bonus but you can feel a huge sense of things are gonna fall off a cliff soon and it is all unsustainable.

European political-economy does not work with energy costs this high. Their entire model breaks.

It’s warm out. No rush.

Do you know Europeans well enough to ask them what percentage of their salary is going to energy? Didn’t think so or you wouldn’t be so damn flippant

How much?

My family spent 900 euros a month for heat last winter just on tension run up- in a country with an avg salary of 1200 euros. This winter heating their home will exceed the average salary. Plus electric plus fuel plus inflation run up.

Once Europeans realize how this war was manufactured and prolonged by the WH they are not going to be very happy with the US.

Just watch.

I am from Europe and my family and many friends are all there, in various countries. Hoping to finally go back to normal after two years or covid, they are livid at Putin and Russia, which is clearly the aggressor. Energy costs are unbearable and this winter will be beyond rough, not just for homes but for businesses. Other than some sellout Putin whores like Salvini in Italy, nobody is so stupid to this this war was manufactured by the WH. Putin made a gigantic miscalculation, keeping on his track record of attacking other countries (see Georgia and the invasion of Crimea). When things did not go well in the first few weeks he started the carpet bombing of hospitals, cities, civilian shelters to inflict as much civilian pain as possible to force a surrender. Whether Europe will be able to withstand the crisis long enough to have Russia crack first I don’t know, but the public opinion in Europe has very clear who is the aggressor snd who manufactured the crisis and it was Putin

I am French and we all know that Putin started this mess, through a delirium of grandeur.
American intelligence was key to a correct assessment of the threat, and they had a job to do to persuade certain European nations (France among them), who well remembered their bogus WMD claims in Iraq.
However we have all come together to combat the ridiculousness that is Putin's Russia.
We are happy that American intelligence was right this time, and we'll put more faith in them next time. You don't seem to realize that the USA is coming out of this smelling like roses.

And from a French person, that's HIGH praise

Oh and we LOVE Biden.

He may stutter and be really old and look befuddled 99% of the time, but to wealthy democracies, he's shown himself to be the great American leader we've come to expect. The 4 years before that were very stressful. Trump was a loose cannon and didn't know how to comport himself on the world stage. He made us all cringe and feel sorry for the people he supposedly represented.

Please explain. How did the US manufacture this? I know we supported Zelensky’s presidential candidacy.

We did not support Zelensky's campaign. He was the wild card third party candidate. Glad he won but unfortunately the US did not support his candidacy. Heck, Trump tried to extort him after he won.

Very well said.

And OP - Ukraine leader must be exhausted in every possible human way. I am amazed he remains as coherent, astute, and resolved as he does.

The Russians have so much blood, so many tears, so much reckless destruction on their hands. Putin is the one who cannot be trusted. He is completely amoral.

Maybe you do, but certainly not my relatives or friends over there. The Afghanistan fiasco was eye-opening, and only worse from there.

Btw, your very own President was not very happy with those submarines, or with the whole approach to Ukraine, or with US-imported woke politics, so I am guessing you must vote far-left.

I am grateful they can forget the corrupt mess that was the Trump administration and their undermining of US intelligence instead favoring the Putin’s propaganda …

Ukraine has almost collapsed the Russian army based on what happened this weekend. This is the turning point. Russia has to figure out if they’re going to admit defeat. There are worries this is when Russia breaks out the nuclear weapons.

HA HA HA HA!

And you might not exist as a country were it not for French help in your war of Independence.

General Lafayette is the only foreign portrait in the Capitol.

Why would they? These are the same folks who horse de-wormer and hydroxychloroquine instead of listening to science.
