Would you be ticked off if a restaurant refused to serve you a cocktail for no ID?

If we get pulled over and get a ticket, we pay it without complaining to the officer. See how that works?

No, no you all don't. Come on. Are you going to pretend you all thank him for reminding you of the law also and teaching you a lesson?

I do thank the officer (note that not all law enforcement officers are “him”), unless they are confrontational and rude. But if I was speeding, I usually know it, and I don’t fight them on it, because I’m not stupid.

Do you also offer up your ID at the bar if the bartender forgot to check it? To make sure it's all on the up and up?

I provide ID at bars and restaurants when asked for it. What with that being the law and all. How entitled and bratty would it be to act like I am somehow above laws and policies? If you don’t like the restaurant or bar’s policy, you are free to ease on down, ease on down the road. You will not be missed.

True and what we don't know in this is why OP is singled out. Does she look 19? Does she get carded everywhere she goes? In that case she should have expected it and been prepared with the ID or figure she wouldn't get served and not surprised.

But it wasn't the bar's policy in this case. They didn't check all IDs.

Here's one more thing going on: we can pick and choose who we card based on their age. Once we ask and you don't have on you, we cannot serve you. She could have served you if she hadn't asked.

I'm 41 and look about 26, objectively speaking. Not in a like OMG you're so hot kind of way. My whole life I've had that younger than I am look about me. I get carded all the time and it's fine. No this would not make me mad, at all.

+1 OP sounded drunk in her post. No one cares. Just bring your ID next time.

Can’t you just show a picture of your license?

I got carded going into a rooftop bar with a friend yesterday. Didn’t bring my ID because I’m 50 years old (and look it), we walked, and I was planning to order a nonalcoholic drink. I just showed the picture of my license on the COVID app on my phone, and the guy at the door let me onto the elevator without any problems.

Seems like that’s a reasonable alternative. He didn’t seem annoyed at all when I presented him with a picture of my license instead of my actual license.

More than likely she just didn’t want you taking up two of her bar seats on a to-go tab she expected you not to well tip on.

OP, there was a guy in my high school who was 16 and bought beer all the time because he looked 45. A good establishment will card anyone who isn’t ancient. This is your mistake.

Absolutely. As others have said, they could lose their licquor license. I am happy every day that I no longer have a restaurant.

I’m surprised it took them 9 pages to show up.

Of course not. That is idiotic and selfish.

While on the way, husband recommends a classic margarita. Great idea and I actually look forward to it. Female bartender who was probably just as old as us cards me! Implying we just graduated from high school two years ago? Our own kids are in middle and high school. She refuses to serve me, then when she goes to the back to get our food loudly tells the other bartender I don’t have ID and to not serve me alcohol.

Poor and miserable lifer bartender power tripping on vacationing rich yentas her age. Bartender knows women in their 40s and 50s loathe showing their license; denying your type service once in a while is just icing on the passive aggressive cake.
