To me that’s the real question. Conrad is a catch. Great character, good (and very good looking) actor. I think what is lost in the show is why he’s so infatuated with her. Makes sense why she’s infatuated with him (good looking, smart, charming, brooding) and why jer is infatuated with her (major Conrad inferiority complex) but I don’t get why Conrad loves belly so much. In theory I do - has loved and connected with her since they were kids- but that hasn’t really translated to the screen and he just sort of seems like the one bringing all the maturity to the relationship. |
The plot is just stupid. No way two brothers would ever act like this in real life, especially after a death of a parent. |
Don't find Conrad charming at all. He's very sulky. |
Jeremiah is not bisexual in the book, but they randomly added that into the show to be with the times? no idea, but that idea seems to have disappeared after season 1. |
It’s super weird that they just gloss over it in the show and it’s not remotely a consideration for belly |
I think he’s wrapped up in this idea of them being destined to be together. His mom was constantly talking about it, and he’s so messed up from losing her. Belly also represents all the happy, good time stuff from before his mom got sick and he’s trying to get it back. |
Could watch S1E7 over and over.
The deb ball dance and the kiss on the beach. Deb ball escort dance was so good. |
I love the deb ball escort dance, too! |
I like that theory but I don’t think it’s entirely about his mom. He loved belly before his mom passed away. I’d like to think that they just understand and relate to each other in a powerful way, but I think where the show falls short is showing how that childhood love matured into a deep love. However it’s YA drama so I’ll cut it some slack ![]() |
So true. Kind of makes Julia much more understandable. |
I agree. I actually like Jeremiah and Belly together--they seem to have a lot of fun together and are on the same maturity level. Case in point, this wedding that both of them think is a good idea even though it's clearly not. Conrad sees how childish the whole thing is but still pines for her? He should roll his eyes and walk away. Belly is way too immature for him--if they ever got back together, they would break up in 5 minutes. |
2nd fav dance in the show is season 2 last night at beach house. Party in the USA dance with Steven and Tay. So funny. |
I find this whole thing of her having romantic feelings and relationships with 2 brothers -and no one is bothered by this- completely unbelievable and silly. No way everyone around them would be just like "oh this is totally fine that she keeps going between these two brothers." It's weird.
I personally think she is perfect with Jeremiah and, if she ends up with Conrad, that will be completely, totally, and utterly unbelievable and stupid. Jer and she have been together, what, 6 years now? And then, just like that, it's Conrad??? I can see they're building to that, however. And it will piss me off. As for casting, Belly is spot on. Conrad too (and though very good looking he is too broody and silly, pining over his brother's wife so obviously for so long). Jer is spot on and INCREDIBLY hot and fun. |
All the moms in this show are kinda horrible. I guess the dads, too, at least Adam. I forgot, why did Laurel and Belly's dad get divorced? |
I can't stop thinking about how much I'd enjoy a show with this title. |
