To me that’s the real question.

Conrad is a catch. Great character, good (and very good looking) actor. I think what is lost in the show is why he’s so infatuated with her. Makes sense why she’s infatuated with him (good looking, smart, charming, brooding) and why jer is infatuated with her (major Conrad inferiority complex) but I don’t get why Conrad loves belly so much. In theory I do - has loved and connected with her since they were kids- but that hasn’t really translated to the screen and he just sort of seems like the one bringing all the maturity to the relationship. I think he’s wrapped up in this idea of them being destined to be together. His mom was constantly talking about it, and he’s so messed up from losing her. Belly also represents all the happy, good time stuff from before his mom got sick and he’s trying to get it back.[/quote]

I like that theory but I don’t think it’s entirely about his mom. He loved belly before his mom passed away. I’d like to think that they just understand and relate to each other in a powerful way, but I think where the show falls short is showing how that childhood love matured into a deep love. However it’s YA drama so I’ll cut it some slack :)[/quote]
