| 90+% of the guest opportunities my kid gets are from her club director trying to do a solid for another club. |
I guess it all depends on your definition of compete... Pretty sure "top-end girls" are seeing the field, no matter where they play. The risk is to Caps is those top end girls going to Baltimore clubs. Why, you ask? They would actually get more time in Baltimore clubs then they would in an equal play time model, pure and simple. If you are a top end girl, would you rather get 50% or 75 % of a game in front of BC, UNC, MD, NW etc?? And candidly, I would say the Baltimore clubs are very surprised at the Cap's 23 success in recruiting. The equal play time model got a lot of girls recruited (pretty sure those Baltimore clubs had about same percentage of girls, but that was expected), but my point still stands. The top-end girls will get more time and practice with more developed girls (HS programs are better) if they play for Baltimore clubs; bottom end girls will not. Yes they have to put up with the drive and yes it isn't for everyone. As a parent, it all should enter into the decision. |
| They did very well, and much better than previous CLC years which is the interesting part. The 23s might be an outlier — time will tell. If not, every club will be fair play sooon enough and coaches won’t be able to tell who is good or bad! |
| That's where we are going! Get rid of SAT's, grades, competition on the field, etc. It's silly. Every team should play to win - period. If you can rotate your roster through and still win, even better. If your daughter isn't getting rotated in enough, move to another (weaker) team where she can shine. |
| A good coach also knows/realizes/is made aware when a kid’s targeted coach is on the sidelines. They will play them to make sure they are seen. |
Marginally interested to know if this/these are the same parent(s) from the 2023 Recruiting message board that can stop repeating their opinions over and over again to bring down Capital and anything DMV lacrosse Either way, we hear your opinion clearly...let me summarize... Baltimore lacrosse > DMV lacrosse |
I think it would be important to discuss the grade level for this as well. I think most teams and this includes MD teams will play to show more than to win for the 2023 class but not as much for the other age groups. For the 2023 class wins are simply just not as important to players that just finished HS season and have already committed to a D1 program. For those that say "back in my time" you need to consider that the current version of club sports and the 30 game summer seasons did not exist back then. For the 2023 class this summer is a chance to get the players that have not committed yet some looks so yes another player should be happy to give up some minutes for this. However, for 2024 and younger, playing the best players in tough games and making the finals may equate to more exposure. For even younger teams, wining should always be a goal. Kids do care about wins as it is why they play. |

Maybe learn the basics of how to use quoting on the forum before spouting off your nonsense.
At least someone above finally got something correct: Baltimore Lax>>>>DMV attempt at Lax |
| As a Baltimore Lax parent, the grass isn't always greener. Yes, some girls play more than others on our team. We don't think that's always the right call. Politics at play for sure. A fair rotation makes more sense at this age. You all are paying the same amount of money and there is a fine line between a top player versus an average player. Sometimes equal play makes the team dynamic stronger. Our team wins a lot but there is a lot of misery and tears too. balanced play has its benefits too. |
| the 26s are an anomaly. More talent than the last few years. there will be 200+ trying out for Capital for 46 spots or so. Where do those who don't make the team go?? Pride is overrated and MC isn't that strong from what I hear. We live in Rockville and are limited w/ options. Stars has a solid team now, but are the girls staying or leaving? But, surely there will be enough spillage to make several teams competitive next year. If you don't want to travel to baltimore, you are limited. what options are there if you don't make Capital and don't want to travel to baltimore? trying to set expectations for my daughter. also, several clubs have tryouts on same day. do the clubs allow you to try out for a few before making a decision? do you get to see who your teammates are before committing or coaches? it's a lot of money and time. |
Moco needs to figure this out. Maybe better developmental teams for younger age groups - BLC isn’t getting the job done. These girls just aren’t competitive going into HS. What’s in the water up in Baltimore? Intensity? Commitment level? |

BLC going club after 5th grade watered the area talent down even more by having yet another club.
Also, better rec programs up in Baltimore area that actually focus on stick skills early. |
