True. You ought to be skeptical of anyone at a T20 claiming to be low income, first-gen and URM because it’s super uncommon — especially anyone wearing their alleged disadvantaged upbringing on their sleeve and constantly throwing it in your face.

I don't disagree with your statement, but from my child's experience at a t20 (who as on financial aid but neither low-income nor FG), nobody was doing the bolded. If anything, my kid reported that the disadvantaged kids they knew were afraid for anyone to know they were disadvantaged lest they be seen as ''unprepared,'' ''an affirmative action admit,'' ''unqualified,'' ''poor,'' ''depressing,'' and a whole slew of other names.
