Pathological liars playing the system. Wow just wow. Insightful read.
It’s Way Too Easy for Privileged Kids to Fake Being Working Class Being a first-generation, low-income student has been an eye-opening experience—not least in finding out how many of my FGLI peers are actually children of privilege.

| Dovetails on Princeton claiming 70% of their freshman class are "non-white" minorities. Rich liars playing the system. |

Are you the poster who is obsessed with Mackenzie Fierceton (and doggedly making the case that she’s an evil mastermind on the other thread?)
Give it a rest! |

There's no checking on ANYTHING. Students could put anything on the app; unless a counselor or teacher rec writes something that rats them out.
I'm not bitter, DS got in to some great schools and is happy with his final choice. But it is interesting that you could put most anything on the app. |
| It is possible to be white, a first-generation college student, an immigrant and have upper-middle income parents all at the same time. |
| Not at all surprised. The hyper-competitive high school atmosphere and college admissions process has been rewarding sociopaths and cheaters for more than a decade. |
| Penn brought the Mackenzie Fierceton backlash on themselves with their bizarre definition of ''First-Generation College Student.'' For those unaware, their definition makes any applicant whose parent attended a non-elite college a ''first generation college student.'' |
Really! Hate to predict their size of endowment 10 years from now. First gen or URM are not likely to be billionaires after getting their degrees. Who will pay? |
| A friend told me that they are multimillionaires, but somehow their DC is on “full scholarship” at a non-merit granting T10 institution. I was like, “they gave merit?” And their answer was vaguely not saying anything. Not sure how they did it. |
Agree, though Oxford doesn't count as first gen. There have been a few folks who've posted on here, seeking approval for claiming first gen status for their DCs simply because they didn't attend college in the States. |
Likely financial aid scamming by hiding assets, divorce and/or pretending the teen is independent. |
Just like taxes, it's easy look poor if you are rich enough to be able to manipulate how your assets are held and how your income is distributed |
Nothing will change because 70% of the incoming class is NOT non-white. |
Good way to get thrown out of school. |
Correct. |
