I’m reporting the Governor. He’s divisive. |
I'm so glad the internet is forever all those threads of Glenn Youngkin being a moderate well meaning education first governor. Some of you should be very glad this site is anonymous bc my god this is some autocratic nonsense that will have zero positive impacts on education. |
Yes, there are organizations that will assist you in filing a complaint for illegally and unconstitutionally attempting to force all children into saying the pledge, or sending them to principal's office, or otherwise punishing/retaliating against them should they elect to non-disruptively not participate. |
This is just a stepping stone for youngkin. I am waiting for trump to see him as a threat and turns on him. |
Management 101, remove the toxic and non performers to avoid pulling down the other teachers |
Here's another take on this that I urge you to consider: -We used to call something Christmas break, now we call it winter break. So? It's still scheduled pretty squarely around Christmas and doesn't interfere with you celebrating. Calling it Winter break is a little more representative of everyone. Also note... if the school has a teacher workday that falls on Eid, they also don't call it an 'Eid break'. Nobody is getting something that Christians aren't here. -Yes, schools and teachers aren't allowed to push religious symbols or proselytize. So? They're also not allowed to encourage the kids to face Mecca and pray daily, nor are they allowed to tell the kids that God/Jesus aren't real. They are supposed to take a neutral position on religion - ie, leave it all for home. So yeah, no Christmas pagents, but don't worry, you also won't be seeing a hannukah, diwali, ramadan, or kwanza pagent either. -It's more inclusive to say happy holidays (and thus, encouraged), but 'merry christmas' still gets said all the time and for those of us who aren't christian or don't celebrate, we get it. We're not mad if you accidentally say merry christmas to us, but it is nice to hear 'happy holidays' instead. I guess I'd encourage you to think about it this way - if you're upset that someone might tell you "happy holidays" instead of "merry christmas", how might you feel if everyone in december greeted you with "Happy Ramadan!" instead? Just remember - schools aren't trying to enforce a ban on 'merry christmas'. I think you're right, that conservatives definitely feel like their beliefs are being excluded and everyone else is getting something they aren't, but to those of us who aren't Christian, realize that to us it seems like a simple balancing of the scales. The problem is that for so long, Christians have gotten to do things (like prostelytize in school) that other religions haven't gotten, that when it goes away it feels like you're being oppressed. But nobody's trying to take your religion away from you, we're just trying to have an environment where *we* don't have to participate in your religion if that's not our thing. |
HAHAHA no. |
Boo hoo. |
God, you’re so damn cute. Keep dreaming. |
Oh, FFS. No one is telling them they can’t celebrate Christmas or say Merry Christmas. They just can’t demand it be celebrated or said in public school. Poor, persecuted conservative Christians. How will they EVER recover? ![]() |
Won't they be surprised when most complaints turn out to be from woke parents trying to make the schools even woker ![]() |
Good. And this email address will make it even easier to do so. Be sure to include the coaches’ full names, folks. |
I am SO thankful my DS is a junior and we only have one year left of this BS. Can’t imagine having an ES kid right now because all the good teachers are going to leave. |
+1. Same for my DD. |
