It honestly makes me sick. It harkens back to the Un-American Activities Committee

Exactly right. People who aren’t seeing this for what it is need to go back and study history.

But isn't it a reaction to the absolutely crazy things some teachers have gotten away with teaching?

My DC's Middle school science teacher goes on rants weekly on various liberal objectives. How awful Trump was (he was), how great a leader Hillary Clinton would have been (would have rocked it) and that she is still the most qualified woman for the Presidency (eh, she's up there for sure). How the earth will be dead in 7 years due to climate change (either your kid misheard or the teacher is confused, but the 7-9 years is how many we have left before reversing damage done is no longer possible), how the electoral college is racist (Oh, yeah, 100% facts), etc...

If I were to bring this up with the principal, it just puts a target on my kid's and our families back.

VETO=Filibuster so she's right

This teacher is now a meme in our house, i.e. what would mister "Red" say about this? or this is what mister "Yellow" said today in class and we didn't have time to finish our work.

My kid will be fine, they know we live in a very progressive area, but at least it is just one teacher doing this, and not all. And DC is smart enough to know when a teacher is sharing inappropriate opinions and can just laugh it off.

So if a teacher with a conservative view was telling your student that Biden is a shell of the man he used to be (fact), that there are only 2 sexes (fact), wearing anything but N95 masks is simply mask theater, transgender MTF athletes have an unfair physical advantage and is harmful to women's sports, you would be OK with those as well? I didn't think so. Indoctrination by either side is bad for students.

Lol my kid in APS had a teacher who on the regular went on rants about her pro gun rights views and told kids about Jesus stuff. True story. Nothing bad came of it, except the kids started making Biblical allusions in their essays so she’d give them As.

My 8th graded came home from civics yesterday, all riled up about “that republican who has veto power” (???). Her civics teacher went on a rant after she heard some NPR story about how evil Mitch McConnell “vetoed” more bills than anyone, and doesn’t he have too much power??

Civics lady forgot to explain 1) Mitch cannot veto anything 2) he’s the MINORITY leader, and 3) Dems hold both houses plus the executive.

Schools are lousy with biased teachers who bring their personal politics into the classroom.

Maybe this tip line is long overdue?
