Why would anyone base serious decisions on nut-job parents throwing tantrums? Grow TF up. |
Because they are politicians. |
The first post mentions a New Year’s Eve party for seniors. That’s the event I posted, genius, and that’s virtual. |
I love threads like this because the OP, APE types and frankly anyone and everyone who proved to be soft as hell morons (because school pivoted because there were no vaccines) will FOREVER use that one school year as an excuse for what goes wrong in their miserable little lives.
Kid gets dumped in HS? "The lack of socialization during 2020 is the cause!" Kid has to take their learners permit test more than once to pass? "When my kid was in their first year of middle school they were online and it was hard!" Kid doesn't pass AP Chemistry their senior year? "My kid was only a first grader when they said 'No Zoom, Mama.'" These people have a built in excuse for the rest of their lives how Duran and the SB ruined them or some shit nonsense like that. The problem is they'll vote for literal fascists as their "revenge." |
Please keep in mind you are in the small minority in Arlington. You can find an echo chamber for your extreme views among a few people on AEM (pretty much everyone on AEM that commented us against shutting down extracurriculars), the few teachers that are in the AEA and the 10 people that are in Smart Restart (who’s pushing up to 50% of kids are going to be permanently disabled with Long COVID, as if 100s of millions of kids haven’t already gotten COVID over 2 years). I understand why you’re so bitter though. If I’d been so consistently wrong in front of my whole community for the past 2 years and caused such damage to our children, I’d be defensive too. |
You are so strange. The poster mentioned a 55 and over Monday sing along. You responded with a virtual NYe party. Someone said that’s not the event you said post the event, I did, then you say you want to talk about nye. I don’t care about the nye party. The point is aps cancelled extracurriculars for low risk kids. Parks and rec cancelled basketball for low risk kids, but is moving forward with sing a longs for high risk seniors. Who is making these decisions???? |
No, they are adults and do the best thing for our kids and community. They won’t - and should not - cater to a-hole parents throwing tantrums. |
Do we really think the singalong is still going to happen? Probably the scheduling person is still out on vacation. It will be cancelled on Monday. |
Yes, that is the problem. APS and their ACDC overlords might want to think long and hard about that. |
Political appointees from a school board hand picked by the ACDC. |
No bitterness. My kids will be just fine because they learned about patience and overcoming things b/c the world literally changed overnight. Don't project. |
Travel teams are delaying training as well. Messages just started to go out.... It's not just APS. |
THE FIRST POST HERE IS BERATING PARKS AND REC FOR HOSTING A NYE PARTY FOR SENIORS — BUT THAT NYE PARTY IS PERFECTLY SAFE BECAUSE IT’S VIRTUAL! GET IT? I don’t care about your arts and crafts event on Monday afternoon. That’s 3 days away and might get cancelled by then anyway. Three pages ago multiple people were aghast at the idea of some NYE party (and I think some of them thought the seniors involved were seniors in high school, ha.). THAT horrifying terrible event is in fact virtual, and no one will get sick as a result. |
Example of horrified reaction to NYE party 🎉 which is virtual so in fact NBD etc. |
A little histrionic. Are your children “hurt” when events are canceled due to snow days? Or during vacations? It’s 11 days. Big deal. |
