I received dose number 3 in October. I know I could get Covid, but I’m not counting on catching it. I don’t know that I’ve ever had the flu. Do we say everyone will eventually catch the flu? I can’t remember the last time I’ve had a cold.

So close school so no one ever gets a cold again. Nope!

We've been doing all the wrong things since last summer. I have a cold today. No way in hell I'm getting tested for COVID because we have an awesome vacation planned over Xmas.

I don't understand. You sound like you aren't in favor of quarantines, so why would it matter if you tested positive for covid?

Stop testing asymptomatic kids, just like the NFL is doing. School is more important than asymptomatic cases.

COVID will be here forever, as will new variants. Are we going to lock out kids from school when they're not actually sick forever?!?

I am specifically asking why PP is avoiding testing when SYMPTOMATIC before a VACATION.

Go away, stalker.

ArlStar is spreading misinformation once again, saying hospitalizations are up in Arlington County. They're not. They've stayed steady since August, with a low 0.4 hospitalizations per 100,000 "with" COVID (which includes anyone who goes to the hospital who coincidentally tests positive, like pregnant women giving birth).

She also says Emergency Room visits are up, which stats are not released to the public. The VDH does have stats on drug overdose visits to the ER. They shot up 50% from 2019 to 2020.

Children's psyche wards are full too, just as they've been the full pandemic.

PP state your sources. That’s not consistent with reports from
people who work in hospitals. Would love to see some local stats that are current to inform decision making.

The Arlington ER Doc who blogs an update weekly, has posted that COVID ER patients are up.

Got an AG coming in who's threatening to sue any school district that closes and a majority in each legislative chamber that will be vehemently against school closing. Bring on January 15th!

He’d have to ban mask mandates too.

Don’t think that’d fly in purple VA.

He's absolutely going to. He campaigned on that position too. He said it in a radio interview the other day.

My kids will be maskless the first day.

Unless your local district decides to keep a local mandate.

And your kids will no longer be welcome at my house.

Guys, just let these fools think the world will change on the 15th. 🤣 they’ll see.

Yup. NI virtual…and no masks. ??

Actually the discussion on AEM is heavily in favor of not closing.

I have to wonder how many on there are now thankful to APE and groups like them for pushing for the law. No doubt few would ever admit it.

Almost all parents have wanted kids in schools. Some just wanted safety measures in place.

The safety measures were in place - masks, cleaning, outdoor lunch. My kid attended the limited in person last year. Not one single issue.

Teacher here ...

Okay, that's fine. I hope your kids like being taught by subs. Because I'm out as soon as masks come off. And I'm not alone. My health is more important to me than your desire for your kid to not wear a mask.

Are you in a NoVA district? I doubt if any will drop their mask requirements this spring.

Same. Although apparently there is at least one poster on this thread who is certain that it will be otherwise. I know that if the mask requirements are dropped in my school then at least half of us will walk. And we won't be waiting until the end of the school year to do it.
